Do You Bake Your Own Bread?

This Summer, I attempted to conquer my aversion to pie dough. Now that it's Fall, I'm contemplating facing another fear: homemade bread. Besides your simple banana bread loaf, I've never made homemade bread. For some reason, I'm afraid of yeast! I've always wanted to try the no-knead bread recipe but have yet to get around to it. How about you?

@ Soniabonya When you use the bread maker you don't have to worry about the yeast at all. Just throw the yeast on top of the other ingredients and it does all the work of mixing and kneading.

I make my own bread all the time. Usually, I use the bread machine, but I also do the no-knead bread as well. It's super easy--you should definitely give it a try.

I make all of our bread. It just tastes so much better! It tastes better when you don't use a bread maker, but I've been tired (i'm pregnant and due in 6 weeks) and don't really care right now! Especially when the bread maker still tastes worlds better than store bought.

yes - in fact, one of the national breads from my country is a sweet steamed bread. since i was in university i've baked bread, mostly wholewheat loaves, naan, grissini etc. i've also got a sourdough starter with which i've made grissini, and am now on to desem bread; the hardest thing to source here is all the variety of flours!

I haven't eaten any bread in awhile. Not because I don't like it, I am just usually eating other things that are more filling. I have Ezekiel bread in my freezer though.

Almost every day now! Since I finally found a reliable and really yummy recipe for a plain loaf in the bread maker, I put one in most evenings. I also often make a ciabatta or focaccia loaf to have with weekend dinners. I find white bread much easier to eat with my stomach problems - I've never been able to handle multigrain or wholemeal even as a toddler - but store-bought white bread just tastes like pap to me. Homemade can be unbelievably good.

I've made it on my own once. I have a bread maker that I use pretty regularly, but I'm not sure if that really counts.

I do no-knead bread, but I use a baguette mold.

Ohh do try the no knead ones! They're really easy to make, and totally worth it. I make my own bread all the time, because I recently moved to the states from Germany, and can't really find any bread that's similar to there.

Making Challah this weekend. I like working with yeast. Pizza dough is fun, I've experimented with different flours and techniques.

The closest I will ever get to making my own bread is making bruschetta, and I don't think that counts! I'm a toss-and-throw kinda gal when it comes to cooking. Needing to measure ingredients drives me batsheet crazy.

I have made pizza dough from scratch using yeast but never bread. I used to be so intimidated by working with yeast but after making the pizza dough I'm not as scared.

I have in the past but not recently. I wish I had more time to do so. I bought a really good bread baking book 10 yrs ago and STILL haven't used it yet! Lame.

How about a "not yet" option? My MIL got us a bread maker as a part of our wedding gift and I haven't had the time to crack that baby open, let alone look over the recipes. Though I must agree with you Party, yeast can be a scary thing. Last time I worked with yeast (bridal shower) I made pogagcas and the damn thing would not work with me. It must of been because it was so damn hot in my tiny kitchen. Boo.
