Do You Command the Grill?

My studio apartment doesn't have an outdoor space beyond a fire escape, so when I want to grill, I go to my parents' or grandfather's house. Although I'll select the dishes and prep the food, the person who actually watches the food on the grill is my dad. He's the grill master. This doesn't mean that I've never grilled, it's just that if Dad is there, he's in charge of the BBQ. Since grilling can sometimes be associated with men (in my case it is, and I'm totally OK with it), I'm wondering how it is in your family?

We share most of the cooking responsibilities, but when it comes to grilling my bf always does it. Although at my parents it has always been my mom who does the grilling.

My husband loves to grill, so I let him man the grill when we use it. I always prep all the food that we're going to grill, but I do let him do the actual grilling.

wellll i do all the food but the bf does the charcoal and starting up the grill and all that hard labour =P

I do all the cooking in our house including grilling!

I'm the only grill person. My husband has never grilled, or cooked really. Back in college 27 yrs ago, on Christmas Eve,in a freezing cold fraternity, he made me Kraft powdered mac and cheese (which is discusting.) It was cold by the time we walked to somewhere to eat it. He doesn't even pick up food or food shop unless it's soft pretzels or rolls which he loves. He doesn't care if he eats and doesn't realize others, including our kids, need to because he doesn't get hungry. Great husband though so I just got use to it.

I'm in charge of all things food - including grilling. My husband has grilled a couple of things over the years, but it's generally my job (and I love it!).

I'm like you, Party, I can grill myself, and I will if I'm by myself, but I definitely don't mind letting the guy do it... whether that be my boyfriend, my dad or any other guy there. I think guys like being masters of something... and I'm happy to worry about taking care of the sides and getting everything else on the table.

Sometimes. Although if I can get my significant other to do be cooking in the first place, then I'm happy being on the sidelines.

I don't even know how to turn on a BBQ so when we're home, my boyfriend 100% does the grilling! At his parents' house, his dad does the grilling, and at my parents' house, my mom and dad both do it...my dad isn't as into grilling as most men (he's so weird that way) so he turns it on and starts it up, but then sits down and forgets and my mom has to always check on the food and remind him when it's time to take it off the grill. It works so well at our house, because I prep everythind and make the sides, and set the table etc., while my boyfriend grills, and it's a nice shared workload!
