The other day I was making panna cotta with my mom. Aside from boxed Jell-O, she's never cooked with gelatin before. When I told her to let the gelatin sit in water, she had a hard time not stirring it. It's a lesson I learned the first time I cooked with gelatin. You have to leave it alone in order for it to bloom. Are you familiar with the ingredient? What have you made with it?

Yes, I use it a lot, actually. I make my own flavored "jello" and you can make really cool savory gelatin dishes like aspic. As soon as I get the whisk attachment for my KitchenAid mixer, I plan on making my own marshmallows as well.

Yes, I recently used it to make blueberry gelatins! But I grew up making Chinese-style almond gelatin with the stuff, too.

No, I'm a vegetarian and before then, I never used it for anything other than Jell-O gelatin dessert.
I make marshmallows with it. They taste so much better than the crap you buy in a bag at the store!
Other than making jell-o when I was a kid, no. I'm a vegetarian now so I wouldn't use it. By the way, did you notice the gelatin in that bowl is in the shape of a heart? Too cute!
