GROSS! Why would anyone eat someone else's nasty sandwich that they touched with their bare hands?

I have celiac disease, so I have to bring my lunch or risk being cross contaminated. It's very expensive to eat this way, so I was pretty peeved when my $10 bottle of lite bleu cheese dressing (gluten is used as a preservative so it's in a lot of condiments) was almost empty after I'd used it twice, and I use a teaspoon to portion it out! How rude. There is no difference what you steal, you know it doesn't belong to you and it's still rude. I've started hiding my stuff in the vegetable crisper.

IT'S THIS ONE GUY IN THE OFFICE WE CALL THE "VULTURE" ALL HE DOES IS LURK AROUND THE KITCHEN WAITING FOR EVERYONE TO FINISH EATING OR WATCH WHAT PEOPLE PUT IN THE FRIDGE. HE SNEAKS IN THE FRIDGE AND STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S FROZEN FOOD OR HE'LL EAT FOOD IN CLOSED CONTAINERS..HE JUST HANGS AROUND THE KITCHEN LIKE HE A SHARK! ONCE WE WERE HAVING AN OFFICE "BBQ" IT WAS SOME FOOD IN THE FRIDGE FOR THE COOK OUT AND WHEN WE WENT TO GRAB IT OUT THE FRIDGE LATER WE NOTICED SOME FOOD THAT WAS "PICKED AT" AND PULLED APART...HE HID IN HIS CUBICAL ALL DAY!

Stealing a can drink is just as bad to me too. It's not yours, you didn't pay for it, so take your sorry behind over to a soda machine and buy your own or just leave out for lunch. And I can't stand someone who always wants to borrow other peoples drinks just because their coworker has brought more than one drink to work that day.

No, theft is theft so it doesn't matter if it's food or not. And what if you're allergic to something that they've cooked within their food. Then you'd really feel like an ass if you had to take unpaid days off of work because you had gotten sick.

i've only ever had a diet coke stolen and i was very pissed but i work in a small office with all girls who are all very very good friends (well, most anyway) and i think it was a new girl who stole my coke and i was like NOT COOL and i told everyone (i'm not above rumor spreading)i've never stolen food but because we are friendly, we will ask to borrow various condiments or small snacks or whatever...but asking is NOT the same as TAKING

Someone left a box of Snickers Ice Cream bars in our office freezer. When they were still there, untouched, a week later, I definitely helped myself to one (I was having a bad day). Alas, they weren't totally frozen and after one bite, I had a big, melty mess that I had to trash. Serves me right for stealing!

I wonder if it's different in offices with a lot of men. My husband's coworkers constantly steal each other's food...my husband will keep yogurts in there and they'll always get stolen. I don't steal anyone's food at work and I don't think anyone's ever stolen mine. I did use someone's coffee creamer out of desperation once...the regular creamer was gone. I don't think she missed it though.

no - it's NOT coll. i've had my food taken so many times that i've started to bring my own insulated lunch bag so that i can keep my food with me.

I once heard of a fire station that had a fridge for each shift (so it had 3 of them). Well, food was being ripped off so one of the fridges ended up with 6 bullet holes in it........

A co-worker had an eating disorder. The only thing she would eat all day, every day, was one boca burger (no bun, just patty) with one packet of mustard. She kept a box in the freezer.One day, she saw the director of HR eating a boca burger at her desk and thought "oh, other people are eating boca burgers". Then at lunch, she goes to the freezer, and a couple of her patties are missing! The HR director took them! Who steals food from the office anorexic?! Another time, Ernst & Young was in the office for a meeting. There was a catered lunch to follow. In an empty meeting room, the office manager put out the trays of sandwiches, cookies and salads. Everything was pristine, this was not the leftovers in the kitchen. The HR director (who was not part of the meeting) helped herself to the food, before the meeting was even over. So the E&Y folks arrived to a lunch that had already been picked at

I'll admit that I have used a squeeze of someone's ketchup or salad dressing in the past if I ran out (and I know people use mine occasionally too) but I never would take someone's food. Am I wrong in thinking there is a difference?

A coworker that ate a ton of sugar free jello got fired so I ate all of her sugar free jello over the course of a week. And once I stole a diet coke from a coworker that was a bitch to me that day. I'll own up.
