Do You Like to Drink Light Beer With Citrus?

YumSugar member birdsflyinghigh recently posted a savory sight: Belgian white beer with kumquats. While I have often enjoyed a Belgian white with oranges, I have never had it with kumquats and think it would be a delicious combination! I know everyone has probably had a Corona with a lime on a hot day, but have you tried other citrus in beer?

Yes, lemonade @laurenot! One of my favorite uses of cheap beer is in Summer Beer- a concoction of beer, vodka, and pink lemondade concentrate. Don't knock it 'til you try it!

Certainly! Orange with Hef, Lime with Corona...I'm also not afraid to cut a beer with lemonade.

As a Belgian, I must say that this horrends me... Putting citrus or other fruits in white beer is not something most people would do here. We have other beers with citrus and other fruits inside, but they are incorporated in the brewing and the recipe. This is also the case for white beers, they already contain citrusfruits in the recipe! The origin of this habbit is found in the German beers. Following the rules of the "Reinheitsgebo" brewers can't use anything else then water, barley, yeast and hop in Germany. It's supposingly therefore that they got the habbit of adding things to their beer before drinking.We have a really nice beer called "La Chouffe" and they brew it with orange peel and coriander. It's great!But if you want to add things to your beer, go ahead! If you like it, you should do it (but then don't call it beer, call it a cocktail :-p ).

I always add a wedge of lemon or lime to light beers. One of my favorite light beers is Corona Light, but Amstel Light or Miller Lite with lemon or lime is also delicious. I would like to try putting orange slices in beer at some point, but I've never really tried it yet.

Not a big beer fan so something to cut the taste of beer is always a plus for me... Beer with sprite is mighty good...

I like citrus in multiple kinds of beer. Orange with Blue Moon, of course, and also with Holy Moses White Ale from Great Lakes Brewing Company (one of my favorite beers). Weffie, I agree about the fake lime taste of Bud Light Lime. It sounded like a good idea to me, but once I tried it I hated it. So, I tried some with actual lime wedges and with lime juice; I think it adds to the flavor of the beer. But yeah, the fake flavor is gross.

I'm not usually a big white beer fan, but if I do order it I need the orange! My roommate puts lime in her MGD, I'm kind of a fan on a hot day. I HATE fake lime-flavored beer tho (like Bud Lite Lime)... it's sweetened or something, it tastes more like lime cordial than actual limes.

Perfect way to get my daily allotment of fruit.....also works well when I throw a lime in my T & Tonics!.....who says alcohol is not healthy?

Get a glass of ice, add juice from 1/2 lemon, add Miller High Life, add straw, get boom box, sit on the porch, sip, enjoy.

roaringsilence, really sprite is good! I can see that it is lemon lime flavor! What is the ratio of beer to sprite (I think I want to try it)! For me I love adding a little zing to a wit.

If it's a Hefeweizen then of course. :) It just enhances the flavor of the beer for me.

Yuck, I am not a fan of wit (or white) beer! I don't mind some citrus in lighter beers though...just no wit beer for me. My hubby "the beer snob" would NEVER add anything to his beer.
