I can only drink the 'light' one...the regular is wayyyyyy to rich for me. But the light stuff is :)yum:)
Quick & yummy recipe, take sliced challah bread, dip it in eggnog (not too long, but you want it pretty saturated) & cook in a pan w/a little butter, it's awesome!
I love it!
I personally like to cut my eggnog with milk, maybe a little more than half of eggnog and then the rest with milk. During the day, I'll drink it cold but at night when I'm snuggling up with my kitty and watching tv, I'll heat it up in the microwave and sprinkle some cinnamon on top! On Xmas eve, my family and I heat up some eggnog and then we like to walk or drive around looking at Christmas decorations in the neighborhood or around town.
I don't consume any egg-based products and haven't since I was 4. Plus, no one in my family has ever been a fan so we never have it around the house. Eggnog =
Mmmmmmmm, eggnog. My MIL makes the best :D
For those who claim you don't like it or don't want to try it because of the eggs...do you dislike French toast because it's made with eggs? I don't think egg nog tastes at all eggy; more like vanilla (and maybe a bit malted as aphill4 said). And the traditional way is to make it with raw eggs, but I am also skeptical of that - I have no way to check if the eggs are salmonella-free, so I'm wary of using raw eggs. My recipe involves cooking the egg mixture over low heat until it's thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. As for alcohol, spiced rum would make it a little sweeter, while I prefer bourbon which gives it some warmth and a hearty kick (we like to use good bourbon, preferably Bulleit). It's served cold no matter what, though - I've never heard of egg nog served warm. I make mine the day before and chill it in the fridge overnight before serving so it's good and cold.
once a year type thing for me. Tastes like melted vanilla malt shake.
I really don't like eggs, so no to eggnog. I'd rather have hot chocolate or chai :)
this year was the first time to try it at a friend's place, and loved it!
It's a once a year indulgence, always alcohol-free.
I stock up on the soy nog when it's in season. I need to remember to buy a few extra cartons before the end of the month when they yank them off the shelves!
I really really want to, but honestly, it makes me gag.
I like mine with a touch of rum.
I looooove egg nog! And where else can you get 2378 calories in one glass???
The holidays arent complete for me without a sugar cookie and some egg nog(with whiskey)!
I love having it once a year!
i can't bring myself to try it because it has eggs in it...ew.
I love eggnog! It's not something I'd want to drink in say, April, but it tastes like Christmas! Along with chai lattes and spiced ciders, eggnog really makes the holidays for me. http://foodieandfork.wordpress.org
Blech. My BF's family does coquito every year (the Puerto Rican version of eggnog), and they all love it but it totally grosses me out.
I love eggnog, but I've never had it with alcohol and I kind of want to try it this year. Is it better with spiced rum or bourbon? Is it served warm when it's served with alcohol? How much alcohol do you put in?
I dont think* there's raw eggs in it, but actually... looking at some recipes, it does lol. But that seems sort of strange. Anyway, I couldn't taste any egg!
I don't really like egg nog, but I love coquito. It is a Puerto Rican version of egg nog made with cream of coconut and rum, among other things. It is soo yummy, I actually just made some last night. I highly recommend it!
Makes me gag to think about it even.
I love me some.
