yes. everyone has to try vietnamese food. it's delicious :)
i personally recommend the grilled pork w/rice or nem nuoung to start out. vietnamese food is famous for their pho and banh mi (meaning bread) though so you should definitely try those as well. the spring rolls are good too but it comes out better when homemade because it is not overcooked as most restaurants tend to do because of the rush. instead i would recommend summer rolls for restaurant eating. happy eating :)
We have found the trick with Vietnamese food (at least here in SF) is to try a couple of different places. Restaurants can vary greatly. If you are new to it or have had a bad experience ask people for their recommendation and try again!
I stick to Chinese food. I used to live near a Vietnamese family and the mom ate fish eyes, so I was really turned off lol. I'm not the kind of person who tries new things when it comes to food, I am such a picky eater.
hey bookgirl - pho is a type of soup. You start of with a broth base and they add in thin strips of meat to flavor it, as well as bean sprouts, basil, and more. It's really delicious!
