Do You Make Pie Dough in a Food Processor?

The easiest way to make pie dough is with the help of a food processor. First you pulse the flour with salt, then you add the cold butter (or shortening), and finally, you finish with icy cold water. In a few quick minutes the dough comes together. Although pie dough can be made by hand or with a pastry cutter, I think the food processor technique is the best. Is this how you make pie dough?

I started long ago making dough by hand, but lately just the processor it's easier to control/tweak the recipe.

mostly, no. we have a full sized processor and i have occasionally used it to make dough, but i find that by the time i take all the components out, plug it in and factor in washing, drying and packing away the processor after use, i could have made the dough by hand. plus, it's a good skill to know if you have to prepare it somewhere without a processor

Nope, only because I don't have one. My grandma never used one and she was the one that showed me how to make pie crust. I use a pastry cutter and it works great.

I would if I had one. I usually don't mind making stuff by hand, like kneading doughs, but the problem with pie dough is that it gets warm too quickly in your hands.

I just recently got a food processor and haven't tried to make pie dough with it yet. My mom uses her food processor and her pies are always wonderful.
