Do You Purchase Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Products?

The stores are currently loaded with pink products benefiting breast cancer research. For example, KitchenAid carries a huge line of pink products that generate funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. What I want to know is, do you purchase these pink products?

Those pink ribbons are annoying. I don't want to think about cancer everytime I pick up the juice bottle!

No, I can barely stand to look at most of the stuff in the store. Its a disgusting Pepto Bismol color. I don't understand why more and more of these products have to be totally pink. Can't they just stick the pink ribbon on it somewhere like everyone did when they first started out with pushing awareness? Also, I've noticed a great deal of products that don't say anywhere on their tags that the money I would spend buying the item will be going for breast cancer research; they're just like "show your support by toting this around!" Show my support by buying something with a ribbon slapped on it by some company hoping to make a buck by treating the whole thing like a fad that won't even kick back a dime to help find the cure? No way.

No. It has nothing to do with the color (although I HATE pink), but I feel that most of these products are overpriced and only a tiny little bit goes to the foundations. If you want to donate to breast cancer research, buy a cheaper non-pink product, save the money, and mail a check every six months or a year. That way you know ALL of the money is going to the foundations. The one that really torques my cookie is when you see things that are pink for "Breast Cancer Awareness"... and they mention nothing about donating money. I'll bet several of them don't but people them anyway, assuming they're doing something "for a good cause". Grr.

I happen to love pink, and if I need something and it happens to be available in breast cancer pink, of course I will buy it. I feel like why not supplement the donations I make to my favorite charity and get something I need all at once. My husband has bought me all three things pictured above. It's a little over the top, I know!

I bought my pink Nintendo DS last October, because Target's and Nintendo's profits went to charity. Plus it's a really good excuse for that pink Zune I've been eying.

I feel like Kramer in that episode of Seinfeld when he goes on the AIDS walk but won't wear the ribbon. People try to get him to wear it and he calls them ribbon bullies. I feel like the whole "pink" thing has gone overboard. I might buy something "pink" if it's small and something I need, but beyond that I'll just donate my money directly.

I got 6 bottle of the OPI pink nail polish and gave it all away to friends or family members who have been touched by the illness. I just got it because it was a cute color, and it works good as little fun gifts to give to people you care about.

I've bought the Better Homes & Garden cookbook for all my friends just venturing in to cooking. Nothing too over-the-top in there or too scary to try making and it's invaluable with all the info, from herb definitions to meat cooking times. I go back to my own time and time again. The breast cancer edition offers extra recipes from survivors and families, just makes it that much more appealing.

I just helped one of my girlfriends look for pink kitchen stuff, but let's point out that she is living alone...no man and no roommate. I think if you like pink, then a few small items (hand vac, ice cream scoop, even tumblers) can be really cute. But if you live with a male (BF, roomie, or hubby), getting a mixer or the pink Dyson may be enough to drive them over the edge. I think they're cute, but they would never get past my front door.

I don't like pink things, and I especially hate the breast cancer shade of pink. It's hideous! I give money but I won't buy ugly products.

I am the same, I donate to charity instead. Part of the reason is because I need things to match in my life. It's my main OCD habit. :) These items don't match my decor in the kitchen or anywhere else for that matter, so I wouldn't buy them. Silly I know!

No way! I don't want any pink appliances, plus the charities generally get a miniscule amount of the purchase price anyway.

I'm with BloodyFuFu on this one. I don't buy them. Period. Because if I want to support research, I'll send my money directly to the society for that ailment. I'm also bad in that I think Breast Cancer has enough support. So I usually donate to research for other cancers. My father-in-law had a blood related cancer, and one of my bridesmaids is a lymphoma survivor, so I'm working with Team in Training and the LLS. Besides... I hate the color pink....

If I need the item I do. I'm skeptical of how much of the "proceeds" go to breast cancer research, so I usually donate to a charity we have here at work

A few small things. I like the pink products, but I don't necessarily want pink overpowering my house. And I have most of those big products and they work, so why buy another? I usually donate to charities throughout the year and that's enough for me.

I really don't buy the pink products, unless they're cute. Not enough money goes to research from most of those products. It's become another gimmick to sell everything from mixers, to clothing, to food. I would rather donate directly to a research organization.

I will go out of my way to get something small, like a bag of pink M&M's, or a Sharpie or something, but I don't know if I'd purchase a pink Kitchen Aid mixer or a vacuum. I think they look cute, but it's something everyone else in my house would have to live with.

I don't really go out of my way...but if I see something I need and the pink one is beside it I would probably buy the pink one. As ,ong as it's not TOO big, because I live with my boyfriend and I'm srue he doesn't want the place decked out in pink!
