Do You Shop at Whole Foods?

Earlier this week the New York Times reported that Whole Foods is in the midst of a store makeover. With the economic crisis and the increasing price of food, the expensive grocer is attempting to rebrand itself as a value store along the lines of Costco and Trader Joe's.

I've always found the prices at Whole Foods to be high and stopped shopping there months ago. Although I do sometimes miss their wonderful selection of cheese, wine, and premade products. How about you?

A lot of people say WF is expensive. But they have lots of foods that are the same price as conventional stores and the organic produce is cheaper than regular supermarket organics. I work on a very small budget and I can still put a meal together for a couple of bucks. WF has the best integrity from any store I have ever shopped. They care about the people and the environment more than any other supermarket. Best of all, they are anti GMO and I am willing to spend a few dollars more on my total bill to avoid eating GM foods that will cost me my health later on. You are what you eat.

I really like Whole Foods. We have a few in my area and they stock the hemp milk I love (most grocery stores don't). Also their 365 line is amazing! I bought a bottle of organic California Merlot for $5.99 and it's damn good.

and Kate Marie, I too have an addiction to the berry chantilly and chocolate explotion cakes. I have a slice of each in my fridge calling my name. haha!

cmd I'm with you. I don't get anything fancy and my bill comes out to be normal. Like at any store I'll spurge every now and it'll cost a little more. I shop there because I'm really picky about the quality of meats and fish and eggs. It's a central location to get locally produced items that I enjoy and don't mind paying a little bit more for in order to support local farmers and vendors. Also, if I go to walmart or anywhere else of the sorts, it takes me 30 minutes to park, 30 minutes to find someone to help me find what I'm looking for and then they either don't know or don't care to know where my missing items are located. I'd rather have a bill that's $10 more for people that enjoy their job and do their job. I also pick up dinner or lunch there a few times a week. It's healthier, more satisfying, and the same price of grabbing dinner anywhere else that's worth while.

Whole Foods and Centrail market are like special things for me. I love all they have to offer, but couldn't afford to do all my grocery shopping there.

I love the high-quality, grass-fed meats at Whole Foods, but all in all I can get the same quality of produce at my local co-op and pay a bit less. Their prepared foods (sandwiches/bakery/pizzeria items) are fabulous, though. A good lunchtime treat if there's one near you!

I never went to Whole Foods much until I went to Orlando for 2 weeks since there was one right down the street from my hotel (we stayed at the Residence Inn so we had a full kitchen with a nice fridge). I really liked that particular location and it's a shame I can't shop at that Whole Foods more...I don't really like the Whole Foods in Minnesota (at least the one in St. Paul). I do eat mostly organic, so I like Whole Foods' selection. I also shop at local co-ops and gourmet grocery stores. I probably go to at least 3 different grocery stores every week!

The nearest Whole Foods near me is about 2 1/2 hours away. When I am in that town I do drop in and shop for non perishable foods.

I love Whole Foods! But more often, I'm there for dinner and dessert rather than groceries. Their pizza and sushi is awesome, and I'm a sucker for those slabs of cake, mmm.

Here in Salt Lake City there was a store called "wild oats" and it changed to "whole foods" but everything on the inside is still the same. :?

Yes I do. It's my primary grocery store. And despite what people say it DOES NOT cost a whole paycheck to purchase goods there. My thought is BAD SHOPPERS well always impulse buy and make poor decisions in whatever grocery store. I buy bulk beans, grains, french sea salt, organic natural peanut butter smooth and cruncy for $1.69, tofu, vegetables, fruits, boxed organic cereal (for $3 less than at any other grocery store, Soy Milk, Cow's milk, fresh fish and bulk granola at Whole foods. Also buy organic grass feed beef there for cheaper than at Safeway. And I don't have to worry about WF's beef being recalled the day I buy it. The key thing plan your meals and needs, write out a shopping list, and stay away from the inside aisle and shop around the perimeter of the store.

Thankfully the closest Whole Foods is about 45 minutes from my house, so I only go there a few times a year. Otherwise I would be taking out a second mortgage just to pay the grocery bill! Not especially because of the high prices, but because everything in the store is so hard to resist.

I love whole foods, but they're too expensive. I might go there once a month as a treat. Their 365 brand pita chips with sea salt are so addictive! And their in-store made hummus is great too. I'll go there to get salads sometimes for a picnic or a party. But I mostly shop at Trader Joe's.

Mainly go to Trader Joe's and Costco but will go to WF every once in a while. Depends on how close I am to one at the time.

Once in a great while to get something special or to eat lunch there, but normally it is way too pricey. I prefer Trader Joe's or regular grocery store, which are starting to carry way more organic and healthy foods!

I go there once in a while if i'm craving something they have that other stores don't but the prices aren't worth it. A lot of labels say organic and hike their prices up but if you actually read statistics, those who eat organic to those who don't have no differences in their bodies. Trader joe's is really good btw

In my old apartment, I was practically in Whole Foods parking lot, so I went there a lot out of convenience and if I ever ran out of anything I could be there and back in 2 minutes. Now I just go there for the meat and sometimes the produce. Their butcher is incredible.
