Agree with both of you....it gets greasy and gross. I usually put carrots, onion, celery and orange halves inside the turkey. Stuffing is made separately.
We stuff ours and also make some separately. Everyone always prefers the stuffing from inside the bird and in the pan with the turkey, so moist and yummy! Ours usually isn't greasy and we
always cook our Turkey slowly so the time thing isn't an issue.
Happsmjc----Same here! We cook the sutffing in the bird and separately. Everyone battles for the stuffing in the bird. We slow cook our turkey and the stuffing comes out moist and rich with
flavors of the turkey and the top of it crisps wondefully. I'm drooling just anticipating it . . .
I've never cooked a turkey myself, but my mom always cooks her turkeys with her homemade stuffing inside. The turkey always tastes great and the stuffing is always savory and delicious, never
greasy! Or gelatiny.
My family has never done the stuffing inside the bird, neither have my in-laws. But I bet it would be delicious! I bought myself a turkey and I may have to try stuffing it! BTW, why would you
use a picture of a burned turkey for this thread?

i grosses me out. i have to make my stuffing separately. the only thing ive put inside the bird is onions and lemon.
1it makes the bird take soooo much longer to cook and the stuffing comes out all gelatin-y. pass.

3MMMM you betcha! (Have to disagree!)

5We also cook the stuffing in the bird and separately however once it's all done we mix them together. It makes the perfect texture.

7Not after seeing Alton Brown's turkey special where the turkey was cooked and the stuffing was not. Yuck.
8it freaks me out but i have never made a turkey but i have a chicken and its always over done i made everyone sick over chicken one time

10Nope; we cook the stuffing separately so that the top gets nice and crispy. If you cook it in the bird it stays too wet.
11No
12Grandma did it in the bird and so do I........stuffing comes out with more flavor and is moist! Always is gone before the dressing.
13Yep and it's never come out greasy or gelatiny, nor is it ever undercooked.
And I agree with doogirl, that turkey in the picture does not look appetizing at all.
14LOL...that bird looks bad!
