Do You Think Ramsay Is a Good Guy or a Bad Guy?

On last night's episode of "Kitchen Nightmares," we saw two sides of Gordon Ramsay as he made over The Seascape, a moldy Long Island seafood restaurant. He was up to his usual bad boy behavior: yelling about the disgustingly dirty kitchen and cursing about the foul food. He even convinced the owner/manager to fire both the executive and sous chefs! However, Ramsay demonstrated his huge heart when he helped Peter release anger, gain confidence, and confront his feelings towards his dead father and critical mother.

It got me thinking, is Ramsay a good or bad guy? Is he rude just because he cares so much about cooking? What do you think?

I like Ramsay but it is easy to like him from a distance if you're not the one getting cursed. That being said I had a dream about him last week where I met him and he was nice as pie and had me drooling in minutes. But if he were just a nice guy he wouldn't be remotely attractive. He is better with the edge that he has.

I agree with atomicspin that his on TV persona is a bit contrived. In truth he is smart, cool-headed as well as hot-blooded, has a recipe for success that he's marketing on his shows and yet still remains fun to watch, an original. He is FUN! PS did you know he was going to be a Rangers (that's SOCCER) player? This might expain how insanely competitive he is...

My daughter turned me onto Gordon Ramsay and Hell's Kitchen. At first I wasn't sure about this fellow. However he won my heart when he offered to send Julia the short order cook to chef school. I think he really wants everyone to reach their potential and his bad boy ways seem to bring out the best and weed out the rest.

tough but not an evil person. I can understand him being difficult to work with if you don't meet his high expectations but that's why he is one of the best. If you aren't at his level then maybe you're not good enough to work among the best chefs in the world.

Wish I'd seen that interview. I saw a clip of The F Word on youtube. It was hilarious. He has a huge ego but I understand why, he knows he's one of the very best. ♥ I'm thinking about being a diner at Hell's Kitchen. I'd love to go, just for the experience. I know where they film that, it's a couple blocks from my old middle school in Hollywood.

Ramsay's a total good guy. Saw his interview on King, and fell more deeply in love w/ him. Had a hard life, but persued his passion. Now, I hold him in the highest respect among the notable chefs out there today. I really want to go to his restaurant in NY.

Haha, bigheadarmy. I think I have a bit of a crush on him also, but he's in a league on his own because I don't find him to be conventionally handsome but there's something inherently sexy about him. I really can't put my finger on it. He has good stature also and a pretty nice bod, from the sneak peaks when he's changing into his chef's jacket. LOL. Oh, and that man dresses GREAT, I just love him in the peacoat. He looks fab. :rotfl: He's not a discriminating type of person, he treats everyone the same. And with that offer her made Julia last season, I was in awe of him. He's truly magnanimous.

I love Chef Ramsay. I like to think of him as Jekyll and Hyde. He seems like a very nice guy until you put him in charge of a kitchen.

Ramsay has done a great job creating a character that works well for TV. When you take a look at the outcome of his actions, you see that he's not really that guy. Anyone who's worked anywhere knows that you keep your best people by treating them well. You don't create anything consistently great without being able to retain your best people. You don't retain your best people by treating them *anything like* what you see on TV.

I love Gordon! He is the sexiest man ever and I have major, major crushage on him. Wednesdays are my TV night just because of him! I love his brashness and as far as last night's episode is concerned, those two needed to go. They were serving crap and ruining the place. Furthermore, neither cared to improve. Ramsay has his michelin stars for good reason - those two duds were sinking the place! The restaurant business is do or die, so in my opinion, if someone can't handle Ramsay's attitude, he or she should split the kitchen, pronto. It's a dog eat dog world there. I adore him!

The exec chef and sous chef both deserved what they got. You're going to thumb your nose at the food of a premiere chef and restauranteur? Why? Because you're a slob who eats rotten food out of a dog chow bag in the back of the walk in? Disgusting. the sous chef just seemed so put out by actually having to put a little elbow grease in. Could just be creative editing, but they both gave me rage for their lack of work ethic, arrogance, and unwillingness to be part of the solution.

I think he's a good guy, heart of a lion is an excellent way to describe it. What he is doing on the show, is business. It's not like suggesting that a restaurant lose an employee, makes someone a bad guy, especially when he's right. He even hugged Peter when he asked for it! And he's way nicer on Nightmares than he is on Hell's. But just the same, what about Julia on Hells Kitchen, he offered to pay for culinary school for her. I think he rewards people who work hard, show heart, and deserve it.

I LOVE Chef Ramsay. He's just misunderstood that's all ;) I think he genuinely helps people and is not afraid of shock factor reality checks. Which we all need ever once in a while.

I love him. And I agree with Caterpillar both Chefs deserved exactly what they got. I think Gordon showed a tremendous amount of compassion for the resturant owner, espeically in this case.

Both Chefs deserved to be fired. I dont think that ramsay would have suggested it if it wasnt absolutely neccesary to this restaurant becoming successful again. Think about it, your a chef and you have gotten lazy...so gordon comes in and gives you a swift kick in the behind, yea its a bit embarassing but did you deserve it? yes. Gordon now wants to show you a dish you can make thats fresh and yummy and offers you a bite do you a) happily try it, as a chef you should be open to new tastes even though the ingredients are familiar. you want the restaurant to do well! or B) refuse to taste it, sneering and saying "i know what striped bass tastes like" Yea, bye bye

WHAT????? I absolutely ADORE Chef Ramsay. So what if he suggested that the chefs be fired? They were bringing that whole place down. It was for the best for the business. He knows what he's doing, that place was in the lowest of pits! He's awesome, very caring in my opinion, even if he's abrasive and shouts and rants. He's the best at what he does and he gets my respect for it. It's the people who talk sh!t but don't do sh!t who irk me. Gordon Ramsay is my hero. :)
