Do You Try To Win Free Lunches?

The other day geeksugar, TeamSugar and I went to Medicine Eatstation for lunch. While we were paying geeksugar told me to put my business card in the fish bowl. I rarely bother to do this sort of thing, however a few days later I received a call saying that I'd won lunch for eight people! The meal was tasty and very filling, and it made me wonder if anyone else puts their business cards in those fish bowls. So, do you?

I don't have cards, my bf does, but even if they picked his card they probably wouldn't let him win because of where he works. There's quite a negative stigma attached to his career. Too bad though, I bet he would like to win lunch for him and his co-workers.

I worked in a resturant for many years.We kept a glass on the bar for business cards and claimed to give away free lunches.We never once picked a card out of the jar.Just warning you.

i always throw in a card, but i have yet to win anything. that hasn't stopped me from adding in the card though. :)

I've never heard of the financial planner ones! I've only seen the fishbowl ones at local restaurants. Mostly it's advertising for the restaurant, they give you a few lunches, you like them, next time you go out you think to go there.

I got trapped into this last year...the financial advisor wouldn't stop calling me after the lunch(luckily I gave him my work number only) and finally I told him that my husband and I handle our own finances and he demanded to know what qualifications we had to do so! Definitely not worth the free turkey sandwich.

Update--my bfs talk was sponsored by Ameriprise but the guy was 45 minutes late. So he gave a 30 second spiel and bought everyone a round of virgin margaritas! Sounds like he lucked out!

I won one of these before but I never claimed my prize. It was sponsored by AMEX and they had to give some sort of presentation before we actually got the prize so I declined the offer.

Thats hilarious that youre posting this today because today my bf is going out with his co-workers for lunch because he won in the fishbowl! Now that he has a business card, he drops them in these lotteries all over the place. Id totally do the same if I had a card, but, I dont. :(

I work in an area where a lot of professionals are out to lunch, so many of the retaurants have this. I do put my card in...I have yet to win though. :) Thankfully all of the restaurants around here do it themselves and there is no "pitch" to listen to.

A few times my coworkers have "won" free lunches, but it usually requires that we all listen to a presentation by a financial adviser! Next time I'll remember not to give my real name or number because they never stopped calling me!

there's bowls like that in small diners and restaurants around here...I should get some cards made. Jillian, Professional....Receptionist.how impressive, lol. and since I'm usually the only one in my office, I'd get all 8 lunches! yesssss!
