Do You Wish Your Kitchen Was Bigger?

Slowly but surely, my kitchen is shrinking. I got new pans over the holidays and now my pots and pans cabinet won't close. When all of the glasses are clean, some sit on the counter because they don't fit in the cabinet. And last night, my pepper mill fell — almost knocking me out — from its crowded perch among the spices! All of these things make me desperate for a bigger kitchen. How about you? Are you happy with the size of your kitchen?

I am shocked at how similar our kitchens are! The cabinets, the placement of the fridge, microwave and oven. Very creepy!!!

i have about a foot of work space in mine it sucks i love to cook and mine is little so it is every hard and i have added a portable dishwasher and a deep freeze to it

No, it was remodeled 10 years ago and I got just what I wanted. It only took us 17 years in the house to save enough $ to do it without debt. Now I want a bigger house in general.

My kitchen's pretty big, but I need more counterspace. I have plenty of cabinet space, thanks to my new set of kitchen shelves that my husband got me for Christmas. At some point, I may get an island for the kitchen because the whole middle area is kind of wasted space right now.

Need more counterspace! Plus, I'd like to have a kitchen that has room for an eating space and a couch for hanging out in. I have a long, narrow kitchen right now and it seems that when I have friends over we are all crammed in there!

the size of our kitchen is great, it's almost the same size as our living room. but the layout is awful and makes the usable space closer to the size of a small bathroom. we're going to replace all the cabinets (our bottom cabinets don't have drawers or shelves.. just big empty boxes of wasted space. oh and by cabinets i mean two. one being the under-the-sink area...) and possibly change the layout a little. i'm considering swapping the kitchen and dining rooms with each other, but i haven't shared that with my husband yet.. that will be a fun convo!

I plan on a kitchen remodel this year but I have a small kitchen. I would like a prep area and a dish washer. I plan on picking some experts brain on the best layout.

Yes, I wish I had a bigger kitchen. Small apartment kitchen sucks. The ventilation is non existant so every time I open the oven or it gets a little smokey the fire alarm goes off. I need more counter space, cabinet space (kitchen aid, blender, rice cooker, crockpot, tea kettle, do not fit!!). At least we have a dishwasher and the fridge isn't so bad.The parents of an ex had a fabulous kitchen. So much counter space, walk in pantry, TWO stoves and ovens, huge sink, hanging pan rack, plenty of ventilation with a patio door, window and fan. . . :sigh: I dream about having that kitchen.

Yes! For a 2 bedroom apartment in LA, my storage space and cabinet space is actually quite large. I just want counter space, and real appliances. I too, do not have dishwasher, my mircrowave sits on the counter, so that's not much room for my cutting boards to lie flat when I start making dinner. I dream of a house and a kitchen with a little Island in the middle!

YES! I have a kitchen very similar to the picture there. Same layout (your basic galley) and even same white laminate cabinets. We're in escrow on a house now, and I'm most excited for the extra cabinet space!

when we bought our house, we thought it was huge, but as soon as we started loading it up, it's really not that big (cabinet-space) but the counter space is fine and my appliances are lovely....i bought a sideboard to store all my extra glasses, trays etc. and we put extra food in the basement!

Yeah, badly. Ours is an ok size for a townhouse but it's definitely lacking in counter space, and all the shelves in the upper cabinets are exactly 1/2" too short to fit most of my stemware so i have to store it horizontally... it's def the smallest kitchen I've ever lived with.

I think for my apartment, the size of my kitchen is quite substantial. If I were to buy my own house and remodel, however, I'd make the kitchen twice as big as the one I have now!

no matter how big it is, I always seem to fill it. :true: I recently moved from a teeny tiny apt to a house with a much bigger kitchen and already it's filled up! It's plenty of room for me now, but I think it's definitely the truth that you'll fill up what you have. :)
