Got roommates who steal your food? What you need is a flatshare fridge! This creative fridge consists of a base fridge and four stackable pieces that allow each user to have a private fridge. Made for the Electrolux Design Lab Competition by Austrian designer Stefan Buchberger, the flatshare — which comes in a variety of colors — can be customized to include a bottle opener or whiteboard. I think this fridge is incredibly clever, but wonder if the small compartment could hold all of my culinary needs. What do you think?

Awesome idea, although I do agree space might be a problem.
It's a great idea for the average college or graduate student, but I would have no place to put my larger culinary projects. Stock would be a problem, so would watermelons.
And as for your opening line, "roommates who steal your food", I think they'd still steal your food unless each one of these comes with its own padlock.
Space would be an issue but it's a great idea.
Problem: Roommates almost always have their own fridges as it is. Stacking them just gives the illusion of being one fridge, which makes stealing even more tempting.
Interesting idea, the green reminds me of my grandma's guacamole fridge and the yellow, my mom's goldenrod one. Would this work for Jewish people who keep Kosher since the food is all separated from each other?
nice. i definitely could have used that in college. =)
I would love this in my home right now or with families. You could put kid friendly food on the bottom so they can reach it and adult or meats in the middle and if you're someone who likes to drink you could keep the booze in the top part.
adults food or meats is what I meant to say
This is a good idea. I agree that it should come with some sort of lock, as your roomates would still steal your food!
This might be a good idea for keeping foods segregated in a single-person home too. Like when I'm trying to chill down a stock but don't want it to heat the rest of the fridge. Or putting all of my vegetables in one and my meats in another.
Love it! I think it's a brilliant idea! In fact, I think it would be great to have at home, too - so I can stock mine with veggies, egg whites and fruit and add cheese and mayo to theirs
I think it is a great idea too! but they look small...I doubt I could even fit a gallon of milk?
However, I have a roommate who has major food storage issues and it is beyond annoying. I wish he would just get his own fridge!
I think that's pretty cool, actually. My roommate and I get along fine and we're great about sharing food, but we still separate our food out. I think this is great for college students living in dorms, or don't cook very often. If you like to stock up on food every week, this is probably going to be a tight squeeze for you.

It's not about the roommates stealing food, it's about them occupying all the space in the fridge! This way everyone has it's fair share.
P.S. If you have roommates who steal your food...move out or get new ones!
i LOVE this - i've lived with soo many roommates in the past that i think if we had something like this, we would have avoided any number of arguments about who to who's food. it's cute and something that's perfect if you are living in a house with several people who have different eating habits or people with limited budgets. i know that for myself i would always buy food and some of my roommates never did and yet they were always eating.
Electrolux is a European company and the size of the fridge reflects that. Most other countries sell milk a smaller package than our gallons. So I don't know how well it'd do in the US market. I love it tho
This seem like the ideal solution for those with roommates.
If this is for the college crowd... I've got one question: Where does the beer go?
Why can't you just stack some mini-fridges? or designate shelves? This is such a gimmick!
my boyfriend and I live with a roommate and we generally grocery shop together and I cook for all of us, but I have been in situations where this could have been really useful. My first year in college I had a really crappy awful roommate and among one of her more obnoxious traits is that she would constantly steel my food and use my computer and stuff (she even broke my tv/vcr and I had to get a new one!) I had a mini-fridge that i was more then happy to share with her and our suite-mates but I almost never got more then a can or two out of a twelve pack (her and her friends would use them as chasers) and she would take dry food out of my closet. Eventually I had to lock both of them (which I hope you would never be in a situation like that sharing an apartment or home with other people but my boyfriends first reaction was that this model should lock as well)
i wonder if they have different colors. pink would be sooo cute
I believe that this product will be beneficial to people in a flatshare situation. I've remember before, when I was still sharing my flat with a student, we always argue on food leftovers in our refrigerator. This product can help minimize the arguments and misunderstandings between roommates.
