Flavored Candy Canes: Love Them or Hate Them?

While mints aren't my all-time favorite sweet, I can't imagine the Christmas season without rows of gleaming candy canes at the supermarket. I'm referring to the shiny, red- and white-striped rods — not the fruity, flavored canes that taste like blueberry, cherry, and grape. I've never been a fan of those varieties, which taste sugary and artificial. How do you feel about different-flavored candy canes?

I'm with Yum, just can't deal with the fake tasting fruity ones.

I agree with a lot of the other women. As a child peppermint was just too much so I loved the fruit ones. Today, I just hang those sweet canes on my tree.

I love Cherry because I never ate the peppermint ones, they taste like toothpaste, yuck.

I don't like most of the weird flavoured candy canes, but I really like the cherry ones. When I was little there were peppermint candy canes or cherry candy canes so both taste "right" to me.

meh, now i dont really enjoy them. but i remember being 10-ish and loving a buttered popcorn flavor!

I was just griping about this last night! I had to go to three different stores to buy regular candy canes for peppermint bark because, apparently, the flavored candy canes are all anybody wants anymore...I can't stand them and always feel annoyed when I see them because I think it's another example of straying from the tradition by "branding" everything with Jolly Ranchers, Sweet Tarts, etc. etc. instead of keeping the original peppermint. *PFHEW! Glad I got that off my chest!

I'm not a big peppermint person, so I much prefer the flavored ones. Luckily I'm not much of a sweets person in general though.

I loved flavored candy canes as a kid too, but now they gross me out--the flavor is too artificial and non-Christmasy. IMO, the worst ones are chocolate chip mint and whatever those rainbow candy canes are supposed to be. Peppermint is definitely the way to go.
