It's only been one week since Domino's Pizza apologized for the unsanitary behavior of its employees, but the pizza delivery chain has already attempted to move on to bigger and better things.
In what would appear to be an Atkins diet nightmare, Domino's has begun offering five flavors of pasta — served inside an edible bowl of bread. For as little as $4.99, you can choose between Three Cheese Mac-N-Cheese, Italian Sausage Marinara, Chicken Alfredo, Chicken Carbonara, or Pasta Primavera flavors. If that's not quite enough, there's the option to build your own pasta bread bowl, choosing from a variety of toppings that include but aren't limited to Philly steak, salami, bacon, and tabasco sauce.
I must admit I'm shocked. Of all products to come out with, this pasta in a bread bowl creation would certainly not have come to mind first. Still, I can't wait to taste test these! What do you think of the concept? Do you think it'll help Domino's regain the faith of its customers?

Single Dress
Those look yummy but I can't eat Domino's for awhile.
1wow - i don't know if that's a bad move or a horrible one. think about it - pasta is typically a heavier meal anyway, and now to add in a bread bowl? seriously? i wonder who came up with this idea and who at dominos ok'd it to go to market
2I love pasta and bread bowls, but something about the pairing just doesn't do it for me.
3That looks both gross and yet so tempting.
4mmmmmmmm.... pass
5I think these look really good... in the picture. I'm sure I'll be a little disappointed if I actually get one in real life. But pasta? And bread bowl? For $4.99? Count me in!
6I'm curious, and would give it a try. Maybe I could have someone share it with me so I don't feel that guilty?
7ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
8These things don't fit into my diet at all, personally, but I am happy to see anything new and meat-free from a national chain.
9BLOATALICIOUS!
10completely awful. what were they thinking?!
11i find this totally freaking gross, and i normally love gross crap...like i loved those stupid dominoes brownies that you dipped in chocolate sauce! but this is too gross.
12Gross. And if you go to the website it's 5.99. Yeah, I would rather eat half a pizza
for the same
price.
13Holy broken diet Batman.
I think I'll pass.
14why not develop something at least moderately healthy for a change?
15They've been available in Australia for at least a couple of months, though I haven't yet tried one.
16This can't possibly be real. I would say PR stunt- but so soon after their recent debacle?
Also- I was curious to see the nutritional info on these- can't find them anywhere on their site (shocker!). Can anyone else find it?
17I'm pretty sure I'd feel bloated for approximately a month after eating that.
18That's ridiculous!
19Sophie, I think the reason they aren't trying for something healthy is when fast-food places try healthy food almost everyone jumps on the "I wouldn't eat this crap if you paid me" bandwagon so they never do well (profit-wise) but when they come out with food-monsters, people are more apt to give it a try (or even like it) and therefore more profits in bad food.
20They are trying to make their regular customers happy and people who normally eat very very healthy aren't really regular customers. Thats why they cater to crazy-food-monsters-eaters!
Carbs on top of carbs on top of sodium. But I would still want at least a bite if someone I knew got on,lol.
And Segat, your avatar is crazy hypnotic!!
21Domino's is disgusting to begin with... this just confirms my disgust for them! I ate their food once. Worst pizza i've ever had. such BAD quality ingredients. I cant imagine this pasta bowl being any better. What a waste of food. Pasta in a bowl, maybe.... but a bread-bowl? the genius that invented this should be fired!
22Can we top mine with some bacon wrapped hot dogs and a little cheese just to be absolutely sure we get enough protein?????
23Domino's has never exactly been one to try to go for the health food market. I feel a little bloated just thinking about eating one of those. Still, I bet they're tasty. Simple carbs on top of simple carbs.
24Someone should really submit this to www.thisiswhyyourefat.com
25I had the veggie one this week and my brother had the mac and cheese. Mine was awesome but he said his was just okay.
26A pasta nut like me would try it but you would still have to balance it out.
27I love pasta and I like the bread that gets served with meals at Italian restaurants, but I don't know about pasta inside a bread bowl...can anyone say carb overload?!
28Those look good but lord am I'd weary. I'd like to try and recreate them at home for sure.
29Whoa. That's definitely something I wouldn't eat.
30not good at all - ugh!!
31It looks pretty yummy but I definitely would not eat it. Probably a caloric nightmare. Plus, there's that whole Domino's-YouTube-video-dabacle, which after seeing I swore I would never eat from there again.
32You can get them without the bread bowl and they are A LOT less calories. They're pretty good too.
33i think i might try the 3 cheese one, at least once.
34I'm never had this pasta in a bread bowl, but I've had it from other places and it's delicious! The trick is having the proper ratio of bowl to pasta.
The YouTube video thing doesn't gross me out that much; it could happen anywhere, so unless you're going to stop eating out all together, it's kind of silly to stop eating at Domino's. (Even though the employees were fired, I could see no longer eating at that specific Domino's, though!)
35Ugh, nasty. Pasta AND a breadbowl? Maybe they were going for the whole garlic bread and pasta pairing thing, but that is just way too much bread for me. It looks like it'd absorb every ounce of moisture in the pasta/sauce mixture and just be a dry, mushy mess.
36i gained ten pounds looking at this
37I just had one today. I got the one where you can pick what you want in it. I thought it was good.
38Mine didn't look like the pictures though. The sauce was poured over top of the pasta not mixed in. And there definitely wasn't as much bread as there is in the picture.
It was still pretty big though. I only ate half of the pasta and a little bit of the bread.
This reminds me of something a 10 year old makes up when their experimenting in the kitchen! Its pretty random...I might try it at a more upscale Italian place but Dominos? No thanks!
39I assume it comes with farty salami and nose stuffed cheese? I'll take my chowder in a bread bowl not pasta, but it does LOOK tasty.
40Got two today. the Mac and cheese for the son and the pasta primavera for me. Its pretty tasty The bread was a little thick so it was more bread tasting then pizza crust. I would get them again. Oh and they are a very good size.
41I don't understand what is so "gross" about it. Doesn't everyone usually have bread or garlic bread with pasta? Its what you sop up the extra sauce with! I agree with the complete and total carb overload and they can't possibly be good for you, but I think its kind of a novel idea.
42I usually eat a little bread with pasta, but there's no way I could eat the entire bowl. With chowder you get that delicious layer of soggy bread, but with pasta it just seems like you would get a lot of wasted food.
43i tried an italian sausage penne one and split it with my bf recently. it's actually really yummy but there isn't a lot of actual pasta inside. mostly massive layers of cheese and a lot of surrounding bread. we were regardless pleasantly surprised.
44HAHAHA .... omg! In Australia (now the FATTEST country in the world), Dominos introduced this pasta bowl thing - except the bowl = PUFF PASTRY *dies from heart attack*
45I think this looks good, two things I love!
46I just tried the chicken alfredo. I would agree with other who have tried this already. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious it was. The portions is just right for two average adults. It's a little light on the pasta side but the bread was delicious. If you are a fan of pizza crust, you are gonna love the outer part of the bread bowl. I'm impressed enough that I'll probably try the other varieties. I generally don't find Domino's pizza's as appetizing as Round Table or Papa Johns but I'll be back for the bread bowl pasta.
47do people who read food blogs eat anything from domino's? just seems to me that if you are at all interested in food, you wouldn't eat that crap unless you were about to starve to death.
48bread bowls are evil. they are soooooooooooooo bad for you. soup in a bread bowl = caloric nightmare.
that said, i don't think these look that nasty tasting, since i always eat bread with my pasta. but since i always pass on the bread bowl, i'll pass on these
49I'll try it!
