If several hit television shows, a video game, Michelin star restaurants, and cookbooks weren't enough, Gordon Ramsay is planning to launch a UK chef academy. He's doing so in order to fight what he sees as poor standards of UK catering colleges. If the folks on Kitchen Nightmares (UK) are any indication of the standards, then maybe Gordon's onto something. At the recent opening of his new restaurant in Prague, Ramsay said:
I’m fed up not just with the [National Vocational Qualifications] standards, but at what’s coming out of our catering schools. I want to set up my own modern day apprentice scheme, where students will experience everything from a most amazing pub, to a one, two, or three Michelin starred establishment."
At a time when many folks are questioning whether or not culinary schools are a waste of time, do you think it makes sense for Gordon to open his own?

that's kind of cool. i wonder if he would be nice to up and coming chefs or if he would yell at them like he does on all his shows.
1I love Gordon Ramsey and he is so talented, so I think this is a great idea!
2fantastic!!!
3I think it's a great idea! From what I've seen of him on 'Kitchen Nightmares', he really seems to have a good eye for young talent and would always try to place them in a kitchen where they could eventually realize their potential.
4Good for him!
5i would attend!
6he's brilliant! i would attend (even if he called me a twat). i love kitchen nightmares. best food show... ever!
7Most of the cooking school provides flexibility in chef classes’ schedule. Students can choose from morning or evening classes. They can even go for weekend or vocational classes to enjoy their cooking hobby.

8I wish he would open a school here in the U.S. for adults and children. My 10 year old son loves him, he's always saying he wants to learn from Gordon. I have worked in small restaurants as the cook for 16 years and would love the opportunity to learn from the best.
9can any one plz tell me were is gordon ramsay ,s culinary institute.
10Gordon is so right about the "American Standards". Im not even a chef and most of these places here are so dirty and unsanitary its so scary. I know this because work in Law enforcement and alot of the employees bathrooms are in the back where the grills and cooks work. Those are supposed to be the cleanest so ask to use those. I myself AM a CLENfreaK! So I observe the conditions of most of these places. The nicest places are the WORSE! Greasy, bugs , food on the floors. I am going to Gordon's school i dont care if it's in the UK.it will be worth it!!!
11that will be a great idea a lot of people will be willing to that including me .
12amazing...
