When PartySugar told me that today was National Garlic Day, I immediately set out to find us a cocktail that uses garlic as an ingredient. And yes, yes, I know it sounds horrible, but done well I bet it would be good - think of a Bloody Mary, that sounds horrible on paper too...
At any rate, I was thwarted - turns out it may be a disgusting idea after all - and could not find any cocktail recipes featuring garlic. I did, however, find a recipe called Funky Garlic that actually sounds sort of refreshing (if not also somewhat terrible). It's a mixture of wine and soda, and it sounds dirty, yet light and bubbly. To check out the recipe (oh and if you know of any drinks that feature garlic, let us know), read more

I thought I would like a bloody mary, but last weekend I tried one and I didnt like it. Much more over-seasoned than I was expecting!
1Never had a Bloody Mary, but I'd at least give this drink a shot! Either way, it has a great name!
2Yeah, this drink does sound funky. I dont know about adding wine...
3I found a cocktail that uses garlic in it!
It's from The New American Bartender's Guide and it's called Garlic and Dill Vodka. Which, by the way, sounds incredibly disgusting to me!
But hey, it has garlic in it!
Recipe:
1 liter vodka
1 - 2 cloves garlic
Several sprigs of fresh dill
Half dozen peppercorns (optional)
Bruise garlic to release flavor and put into vodka with dill sprigs and a few peppercorns, if you wish. Steep for about 24 hours at room temperature, turning the bottle every so often to circulate ingredients. Check flavor and strain into a new bottle. Store in refrigerator or freezer.
Blech!
4I love garlic!
5this drink reminds me of calimochos -- red wine and coke. loooooooved those at the botellon in spain!!
6ok, this sounds nasty!

12I'm from the school of cooking with garlic and not so much drinking it...
13Sounds gross. And so do drinks made with garlic. This is an entertaining thread, though!!!!
