How Do You Toast Nuts For Recipes?

Tons of recipes call for toasted nuts, be they pine nuts, walnuts, or toasted pecans. But if you are prone to putting nuts in the oven and forgetting about them — as I've been known to do — that's a lot of wasted nuts. That's why I've switched from toasting nuts in the oven to toasting them on the stove top. What's your preferred method?

on the stove top with butter and sugar. yes I know it sounds unhealthy but its good

Usually the oven, sometimes the stove. I usually toast nuts before baking, so the oven is going to be on anyway. And actually, the one time I burned nuts, it was on the stovetop!

I love my toaster oven. It uses so much less energy than cranking the whole over up to 400 degrees to roast some nuts.

i must have seen something on the food network about doing it - because i do mine on the stove

I've only roasted them in the oven before, never the stovetop. I'll have to try it that way.

Oven & stove top, usually it depends on the quantity the recipe calls for.

I generally do them in the oven, but have done it on the stovetop as well. I'll use the stovetop if I dont have pots going at the time. Alot of the time, I'll cook the main meal on the stovetop and be baking dessert at the same time.
