Love hard boiled eggs!  I use this technique as well.  Perfect every time.  I also add a bit of dried shallots to the water when cooking.  If I get busy doing something else (it happens!) the scent of the heated shallots reminds me to keep my eyes peeled on my eggs.

I have a better, and easier method: Instead of going the extra mile with the ice, after removing the pot of eggs from the stove, run them through running water(room temperature is fine but not hot water). And then leave it for a few minutes before peeling the shell off. The contrast of temperature will detach the shell from the egg, and makes peeling a breeze. http://www.atelierbeauty.com/
