When I eat with my parents. My mom loves to light candles.
I rarely light candles at home. It's because I have cats and they would probably manage some way to burn the house down. Sidenote - This post reminded me of a funny story when I was in HS. My friend was trying to smell a lit candle and burned off her bangs (think big, mall bangs). Best part is she didn't realize that her hair was burning and said, "This candle stinks!".
I light candles all the time..they're so pretty!! :)
Hardly ever. I know it's romantic, but I just don't see my husband and I doing this very often. Probably just Valentine's Day and our anniversary...special occasions.
Only when we go out. And the first couple of nights after we moved into our new apartment, before the electricity was turned on and candles were the only light source we had, but that doesn't count, I don't think.
Not often enough apparently...
Miss Party, you use so many candles I hope you have fire insurance!
I'm afraid my husband or I would accidentally knock the candles over. That's why we do the "ambience" thing at restaurants rather than home. :)
Several nights a time. It's not really for creating a certain mood. I'm kinda obsessed with saving energy so as much as possible, I don't turn on the lights. My friends find it a bit freaky sometimes.
We almost ALWAYS eat by candlelight, I love it!
DCStar: my mom is obsessed with those candles. She got them at Mervyns and when she heard it was closing, she went and bought the rest of them. We've been using them as hostess gifts. I love eating with candlelight and try to do so several nights a month.
I agree, I love those candles! Sadly we hardly ever actually eat at our table so candles never really get lit.
Those candles are so pretty! Did you make them? Funny story - I bought some nice candles to go in our Tiffany crystal candlestick holders we got for our wedding but have never used. I finally got them out for New Years, and the candles didn't fit!! We had to "cut" them down to size and there was wax all over the table...not quite the sophistication I was going for!
We did this the other night. I was testing out a new recipe and had spent a lot of time in the kitchen working on it. I guess hubby wanted it to be a special dinner so he lighted some candles. It was really nice! And it was a Sunday, so it was fun. :)
i feel like my man and i always have candlelight vs. lamp light at our table but that's just how we are. we do sometimes go out to places that have that sort of ambiance but it's more for an occasion rather than for something that's normal...
Mostly never at home, but after seeing this, I think I'll attempt it more :]
