Tupperware and Jars

I save glass jars because I find them useful for making dressings, storing sauces, or when filled with say, homemade lemon curd, giving as an edible gift. Since I don't use then daily, they are stored in the lowest end cabinet, almost out of the kitchen.

I am sorry but those photos show a messy, not well-kept, disheveled kitchen. While that might be standard at a normal person house - not quite the right photos for a heavily-read blog in post about kitchen organization. The pots and pans aren't event nested - the lids are scattered around. The spice rack is hanging crooked. The under-sink section looks like a mouse den waiting to happen. Sorry but I give a big thumbs down.

That cabinet with the jars and tupperwares bugs me. It just looks a mess and like a lot of wasted/empty space ... there must be a better way to organize that. My kitchen has like zero cabinet space so no way I could devote a whole cabinet to that stuff. I've got one shelf of matching tupperwares which stack nicely. Glass jars sit in the corner of the countertop. The best thing I've done to organize my kitchen was going to target and buying two plastic storage bins with lids. I put all my baking stuff, flour, etc. in them (I have a lot because I bake a lot) and they fit perfectly under the sink, freeing up a cabinet for other things.

Love this article!! I moved into my apartment a little over a year ago and my kitchen space has been cut in half from my previous home. Part of the problem was solved because I was a Hurricane Ike victim and lost a lot of my kitchen supplies/food/gadgets to my home being flooded, but I'm slowly building my supplies back up and learning to deal with a one bedroom apartment is both easier and much more difficult. I like having less to take care of - leaves more time for other activities, but having less room for cooking and such is frustrating! I will upload some photos of my kitchen and take some of your suggestions for my "layout" that I have yet to feel comfortable with. Some of the dimensions of these cabinets are CRAZY! Plus, it's a much older apartment complex and my major complaint is how dark everything is...from inside the cabinets to the kitchen itself. I need all the help and advice I can get!

Thank you for the photos! It is always hard to squeeze a lot of items into a small space. I would love to upload images of my cabinets to you. I organize everything like crazy. Even when it comes to my refrigerator. Please let me know if you are interested. Would love to share :)

Thanks for those tips. I do some things differently, though.. like mixing dishes and edible things. I have all my teas stored directly above the cups, cause I will always need them at the same time, and that way I only have to open one cabinet door.
