It wasn't too long ago that wedding food options were limited to beef, chicken, or fish with a champagne toast and frosted white cake to follow. Of course, with infinitely creative couples finding new ways to set their celebrations apart, there's no longer a set formula to the American wedding menu. Drawing upon traditions from other world cultures, couples can honor their diverse backgrounds or create new traditions that define them as a pair. @prariefaerie I can't speak for Denmark but the cake pictured has norwegian flags so I just thought about our traditions ;)

My Husband is Danish and kransekake was served at our wedding because it is a desert for special occasions and celebrations...the flags are decorations.

I'm norwegian and kransekake is not a weddingcake... it's for our independence day primarily, hence the flags. But they do look cool, and as the recipe says, pretty healthy!

Ducks do not mate for life; geese do. My family raised ducks, and the males have no loyalty at all. Lest you think this is a by-product of being domesticated (and ours were free-range and antibiotic-free), wild ducks are also nasty, little critters. (Seriously, Google "wild duck rape." Or...just...don't.) Ducks are delicious. Their fat is excellent for cooking. Their eggs make magnificent baked goods. And the feathery bastards are the only animal I haven't felt a twinge about eating.
