Perhaps it's the fact that Julia Child's chart-topping tome, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, features an array of aspics. Maybe it's because we're in an era when gourmands are obsessed with playing with their food. Or the fact that Jell-O is a cheap and cheerful thrill during a sweltering economic downturn. Either way, the retro favorite Jell-O appears poised to make a comeback. Nevertheless, with its jiggly quality and slippery texture, gelatin's always been somewhat of a polarizing food. What do you think of it?

I have never been a fan of Jello. It is just not for me, although we did name our cat Jello. And I just can't stomach aspics. I find them odd, food in gelatin is just strange.
1It's tolerable, but certainly not my snack/dessert preference. It just seems... unnatural.
2I despise it! I'm a texture eat and I just can not get past the texture of Jello. And I never know what to do with it, are you supposed to try and chew it? Swallow it whole? What? Eww...just eww
3nasty. god was probably pissed when we invented this stuff... it's really creepy that anyone thought to do that with pigskin and bones in the first place, i can't imagine why they ever tried eating it.
4i like jello if that's what we're talking about here
the only problem that i have is
making sure that it's 'kosher' since i'm a vegetarian - and i'm not for all the animal products that go into making it.
5YUM!!!!!!!!!!!
6That picture makes me really want some jello!
7wait. . . it's made out of pigskin and bones????? o.O
:gags on her strawberry jello:
8I adore Jello!
9Especially when infused with some vodka!
10only in jello shots. otherwise i hate the stuff.
11No thanks.
12Delish!
13I especially like gelatin as a summer treat, when all I want to eat are cold things. My husband juiced a bunch of blackberries a couple weeks ago and used a cup of the juice to make strawberry jello. The result and strangely tart and wonderful. (I only got a bite--he devoured the rest.)
14JELLO!!!! Yum i love it. No aspics though, nothing in my jello ruins the texture, i love the silky, fruity, slippery, squishy texture, it's an awesome food!
15it's made from hooves! Hooves of amimals, There is however a vegetarian gelatin that is plant based.
16Unless you like that sort of thing...
I hate Jell-O. I don't like the consistency of anything jelly related.
17never eat anything that jiggles.
no jello
18I think Jell-O manufacturers should be required to list the REAL ingredients on the package. I'm amazed at how many people don't realize what geletin is.
19Gross Gross Gross Gross gross!
20Jello, IMHO, is NOT food. It's a byproduct of animal joints. It's so disgusting! The texture is too slippery/thick...it makes me want to gag. The only, and I mean the ONLY, thing it's good for is for putting in other recipes as a thickener. Otherwise, eating it plain reminds me of eating petri dishes. Kinda gross.
21I want to play with aspics. Particularly a tomato water aspic. Oh man. Saw a delicious looking picture of a salad based on tomato water aspic.
Also want to play with real juices and gelatin.
And I'm less concerned with the fact that its rendered from animals (hello, home-made stock!), than about the fake flavors and colors that Jell-o is made of. Ewwwww.
22I love gelatin. Jell-O is delicious but can only be enjoyed either in cubes or with a plastic spoon.
