Kellogg's Debuts Michael Phelps Cereal Box

An honor of winning the most Olympic gold medals of all time is getting to grace the cover of a cereal box. This morning Kellogg's released the first images of the Michael Phelps Corn Flakes cover. Come Fall Phelps will front both Corn Flakes and Frosted Flakes boxes.

Normally athletes are featured on Wheaties boxes, but this year Phelps's agent, Peter Carlisle, decided to go with Kellogg's.

I find the cover inspirational and patriotic and definitely prefer it to the image of Phelps on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

What do you think? Will you buy a box of Michael Phelps Corn Flakes?

What will Kellogg Company say to the world if someone uncovers a photo of one of their executives or board members smoking pot when they were younger, and posts it on the web? I don't have such a photo - I'm just curious. I haven't smoked pot since 1983, but I'm sure there's photos of me out there getting high.

Ick no.. i dont care what the swimming ascociation says i strongly debate one of his races.. plus i think hes a bit ugly. Id rather look at the rooster on the normal packs

I have these old Pepsi cans from 1996 I believe and the liquid in them completely evaporated. Just a random comment.

I would buy it more as a keepsake for the shelf. We do the same with the "commemorative" cans/bottles of coke and such. I definitely wouldn't open it.

That does look oddly photoshopped. The water doesn't look right, and his hand on the ropes looks weird, too... and his outstretched arm does look too short. Weird!! Ugh I hate how photoshopping is everywhere and makes everything look fake and advertisers think that we want it.

Yeah, his arm looks really short. (Well, it looks normal length, so really short for him.) And I prefer the SI Cover. But that's just me.

Definitely, I wouldn't mind looking at Michael Phelps while eating my cereal. I like corn flakes better than wheaties anyway.

what i like best - and no offense to Wheaties - is that it's a difference cereal. i think that there's a lot of value in putting an athlete on another type of cereal even if it's one that has sugar in it. i'm confident that they will see a lift in sales for a few weeks at least - and i'm all for it. that's quite the great endorsement deal huh? Phelps really is bringing home the bacon so to speak.
