Let's Dish: What's Your Preferred Brand of Hot Sauce?

When it comes to Super Bowl foods — nachos, wings, dips — there's one common denominator: hot sauce. The wonderfully addictive red liquid burns your lips and sends you running for a beer.

I'm a huge fan of hot sauce, and while I think certain dishes require specific brands (I like Tapatio with Mexican food and Crystal in Buffalo dip), there's one brand that's my default: Sriracha.

I guess you could say it's my preferred brand of hot sauce. It tastes good in everything! What's your favorite hot sauce and why?

I love my hot sauce...but I have different sauces for different foods. for Mexican food its Tapatio, chicken wings I love Louisiana hot sauce and for pizza I use tabasco.

I LOVE all hot sauces; I put some variation on almost everything I eat. But Sriracha is also my go-to!

Cholua for mexican food Sriacha for chineese Franks Red Hot for wings El Yucateco when I want spicy Daves insanity sauce on Philly Cheese steaks Snake Bite Pure Venom when I want to destroy any remanent of self-respect I once had (7 million scovilles? yes please)

I like a small brand called Toluca Gourmet, it's not vinegary and has a good kick.

I think it all depends on the meal. Siracha certainly has it's place. For Mexican food I love Cholula & Tapatio but find myself going with Yucateco Red and Green or the Valentino Extra Hot most often. For currys and such there is a West Indian place in Boston that makes it's own Scotch Bonnet sauce called Singh's Roti and I think it's amazing. Franks is solid when making wings.I can't stand Tabasco, no flavor.

It seems like you and most of the commentors really need to expand your horizons from supermarket and really bad hot sauces to the upscale gourmet ones. They will open up a whole new world of flavor and enjoyment. Try Ring of Fire Hot Sauce to really experience Flavor with Fire.

I just counted 7 different hot sauces in my 'fridge! I love 'em all, and love to mix them together, but the bottle that I grab most frequently is Chipotle Tabasco. :drool:

For when I want some serious spice, it's sambal all the way. But lately, the liberal use of Frank's Buffalo sauce in oven 'fried' chicken batter is a whole lot of win.
