The holidays may be almost over, but it's not time to put an end to the culinary celebrations just yet! All over the world, revelers will be celebrating 2011 with a plethora of "lucky" foods, from Hoppin' John to juicy grapes. Are you welcoming the New Year with any lucky dishes?

Lentil and black eyed peas soup. Mix the Hungarian tradition with some of the American. It took my four stores but I finally found a dry bag of black eyed peas. Every other place was sold out!

For my first New Year's Day in the Southwest I am giving my traditional southern good luck foods a southwestern twist. The pork and greens will be Green Chile Stew and I am making a new recipe I found for a spicy, hot black eyed pea dip.

we also always have sauerkraut, homemade! We also eat pork tenderloin, because as the saying goes, if you eat fowl on new years, you'll be scratching for money all year long! oh, and homemade applesauce!

Red beans over rice. :drool: Not a "lucky food" but I always put a small jar of coins in my window sill overnight on NYE. :)

We always have sauerkraut. We make our own, which tastes completely different from what you get at a store, and use turkey instead of pork. Put it all over some mashed potatoes and start the new year right!!
