A Marble Floor Made of . . . Salami?

I was checking out one of my favorite websites when I came across some gasp-worthy food art. Belgian contemporary artist Wim Delvoye has created a marble floor with salami. Upon first sight of the piece, I was simultaneously wowed by the Delvoye's creativity and . . . hungry.

I already consider food art, but this installation made me consider art as food. Alas, it turns out the patterns are actually made of C prints of the meat (not actual meat) so it couldn't be eaten anyway. What do you think of it? Would you want an inedible marble salami floor?

dear goddess, i am now tempted to go to my fridge and eat the salami. nice floor pattern, but marble please :) hehe.

Well, for me its a good color for salami but a bad color for my floor.

That would be classic in a high end specialty butcher/deli store. I can totally envision it ... walking across a floor of salami, proscuitto and mortadella ordering a pound of antipasti. That would be super cool.

umm...that's just ..um...kind of gross i think. i don't even know how to respond to this one - but eww! i think that he took a lot of time to make something really nice but it's just horrible think about. ick!
