One of the weirdest things about globalization is how everything is the same and yet totally different. You'd think that no matter where you go, a McDonald's would be a McDonald's right? Wrong! If you've never been to an International McDonald's, you might not know what you're missing. For example, in Germany you can order a Big McFeast and a cup of beer, whereas in Norway you can opt for the McLaks - a sandwich made from grilled salmon and dill sauce. Personally I love how you can get an Ebi (shrimp) burger in Japan, and rice burgers in Hong Kong and Taiwan. How about you, have you ever discovered anything interesting on an International McDonald's menu?

McDonalds in Australia always seemed to have something new on their menu with lots of Indian influences, at least the ones in Sydney did. Oh I've come to love beets on burgers, especially chicken burgers. McDonalds here in Finland offer mostly the basic fare but they occasionally throw is something that is very Nordic like smoked salmon salad.

Even in the US, there is a bit of regional variety. In San Diego, I have been to one McDonald's that had rice on its menu and another one in a different neighborhood that served grits.

Cups of corn and pineapple everything at McDonalds in Shenzhen, China. Taco Bell was also a sit-down restaurant with full menus, and the most amazing chicken kabobs I've ever had!

The Australian burger people have referred to is the McOz- it's just a Quarter Pounder with salad, really. And at the moment here, we also have a promotional burger called the NameIt Burger (with accompanying competition to name it, obviously)- I think it has beef, dijon mustard, onion, tatsoi salad and cheese. Oh, and you can get the Pasta Zoo Happy Meal- it's pasta animals with a tomato sauce!

In Germany I had McShrimp... and in London I had the BEST Mini-Egg McFlurry... yummers!!!

In Japan, they have custard pies along side their apple ones. I never payed any mind to any other menu item because I'm one of those "chicken mcnugget and french fries" kind of girls.

In India, they have a Majaraja burger, which is a chicken burger with a kind of curry sauce. They also have a lot more vegetarian options, and no beef, of course. I was in Germany last week and saw a lot of Mac Cafes, which have modern furntiture and all of the coffee drinks you can imagine from lattes to mocca's. I think they are trying to compete with Starbuck's.

I've had the McKabbob while in Israel - In college I took an international advertising class which discussed how McDonalds and Coca-Cola change their product content by market (Coke changes it's ingredients and quantity of sugar from country to country) American products are taking over the world! (oh, and in Switzerland McD is CRAZY expensive!!! One cheeseburger and fries with a drink cost about 12 swiss francs or $10 US dollars! and ketchup is extra!)

When I lived in Quebec we'd get poutine at McDonalds....french fries covered in cheese curds and gravy. It sounds disgusting, but it is AMAZING!

Not only are there a few different things. Everything tastes better. Everytime I eat McDonald's or Burger K in US its like eating cardboard. But where I live it tastes a lot better, and I've been to germany and it tastes way better there too.

In Spain the McD's serve Gazpacho! They also have some sort of pork burger -- they were also trying to feature something called a mcSahara - which was a burger in a pita... I don't really eat at McD's at home, but always stop by whenever i'm abroad. I love to see their different stuff.

I can't say I noticed anything different at a Parisian McD's, but I was only after a drink so I'd have the excuse to use their restroom as a paying customer (the public toilets in Paris are horrendous).

Poutine! Growing up my family (Canadian) would eat french fries, gravy and cheese curds.The last time I went to Canada and stopped in a McDonalds they had it on the menu! It was great :/
