At a time when products like Pretzel M&Ms and Kabang Energy Candy are all the rage for Halloween, it's fun to think back on other, more ageless treats that harken back to different days. Canel's in diminutive packages, Pop Rocks, and Fruit Stripe gum all remind me of my childhood. What confections remind you of the past?

are you trying to show our ages? :0) I Miss REAL penny candy when you could actually go get a small brown bag and fill it with a lot of candy at 2 and 5 cents Fruit Stripe Gum Teaberry gum, Gold mine Gum 9the lil bag of pieces of gold nugget gum) Charleston Chews, Sugar daddies and Sugar Babies,Turkish Taffy, Now & Laters Also I miss some of the old Holiday Candies too like the eggs with the different cremes in them, The crosses with coconut in them, My grandma used top order us each a Chocolate baby doll from some chocolate place every Christmas. I have managed to find many retro candies online like the link included above is just one there are so many places selling it but i still can not find those darn baby dolls LOL they were like lil Kewpie dolls all chocolate

BAZOOKA, not the little pieces they sell now but the huge pieces that you could barely fit into your mouth that cost a penny. Those were the good old days. And how about Cracker Jacks with those yummy peanuts and the surprise in every box! OK and who can forget those disgusting pixi sticks, made from pure sugar, flavored with tangy preservatives that you would just pour down your throat and pray you didn't gag.

I go back to the 1970's when it comes to Bubble Gum Cigars, M&M's Plain, Bit-O-Honey, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Blow Pops & Bottle Caps when I would dress up as The Late Edie Sedgwick: The Girl With the Black Tights ~ R.I.P. every Halloween. Peanut Butter Kisses, Chick- o-Sticks, Smarties, Root Beer Barrels, Pixy Stix, Ring Pops, Pop Rocks, Dum Dums, Tootsie Pops made into ghosts with kleenex, Wax Lips/Fangs, Candy Buttons, Bazooka Gum, Lemonheads, Dots, Sugar Daddy, Bottle Caps, Bubble Gum Cigars, Chiclets, Candy Necklaces, Mary Janes, Atomic Fire Balls, Milk Duds, Rolos, Red Hots, Sixlets, Peanut Butter Bars. I think I could go on and on, but I'll stop.

I second candy cigarettes, only the candy kind, not gum (those are good too). Sadly, they aren't vegetarian, so no more for me. xxstardust - I LOVED those! I still have the stickers and wrappers, somewhere. I still remember what they smell and taste like, I would love one right now.

RUNTS! Laffy Taffy, candy necklaces, Fire Balls, Hot Tomales, Nerds... wow, I was a candy nut. Of course, that 5 lb halloween pillowcase lasted me all year.

Those spice-girl themed chupa chip lollipops! They came with Spice girls stickers and I papered the walls of my dollhouse with them as "posters" .... holy cow I feel old. They didn't even taste that good.

Anything chocolate! I always ate all of the Mars Bars, Snickers, and Hershey bars first. And then the Bit-0-Honeys; then the rest of the stuff if I couldn't bargain my brother into some of his chocolate.
