I was at the drugstore the other day when I noticed an M&Ms display near the front counter. It caught my eye because the entire display was green: the packaging, the M&Ms, the display, everything. Once it had my attention, it was then the smaller print on the display made me chuckle:
Consumption of the The Green Ones may result in elevated Romance Levels.
I'm not sure where the myth comes from, but I definitely remember it from my childhood. According to urban legend, the green ones carry a mythical aphrodisiac-like quality. I guess it was only a matter of time before Mars, the maker of M&Ms, started making money off it. They've been playing it up in commercials for years, but now they're actually offering entire bags of the stuff. So forget red and pink for Valentine's Day; this year it's all about the green.

I love it! Are they gonna be in all drug stores?
1I remember that myth! Too cute that they're playing it up!
2WHat was it, soldiers in the war collected them up so when they went home, they'd throw them in the air in teh front yard, the kids would be distracted looking for choclate in the grass and it gave him 20 or so mins with the little lady to give her some "special attention".
3That's funny. Personally, the green ones have always been my favorite.
4when i was fourteen or fifteen years old i saved every green m&m i could and put them in a drawer in my room. i went away to summer camp and was extremely pissed off to come home to find the bowl EMPTY. my mom went through my drawers while i was gone to "straighten up" and ate every single one of them. even the peanut butter ones (which were new at the time!)
oh i was so mad at her. it's a good thing i had a lock on my diary... i'm sure there's no way she could have found a way into that thing and read it while i was gone. oh i was so naive.
5i saw the larger bags at my grocery store about a week ago and have one bag each of the plain and peanut!!
6when i first started dating my boyfriend- we would leave each other notes with the greens ones attached in a little bag. that was a long time ago -- so guess what he'll be getting before/ up to valetines day- more notes with a surprise!!
7Hahhaha,, Thats great!
8Very cute!
9Haha, I'm currently eating out of a big bag of Christmas M&Ms - all red and green!
As I recall, here's how my friends and I categorized M&Ms when we were in 6th grade or so (geez, I feel old because that's over 10 years ago!!):
Red: Love
Orange: Ditzy
Yellow: Happy
Green: Horny
Brown: Poop
I can't remember what blue symbolized.
10I so need a few bags of those! The green ones are my favorite!
11(Not that they taste any different or anything... they just are!)
aww. I'm going to get my hubby some for Vday.
12I've never heard that myth before...am I the only one??
13i think that's hysterical. i guess that they are trying to stress that pink and red aren't the ONLY colors for V-Day
14Ha too funny...
15This is Sooo COOl! I want to get some! OMG
16i just knew there's such myth! cute! hahaha
