Palin Pig Sandwich: Love It or Hate It?

In case you haven't gotten enough of Barack Obama's "lipstick on a pig" comment, restaurant owners in Sarah Palin's home state of Alaska have decided to make a sandwich based on the statement.

The McPalin Grilled Pig Sandwich is on the menu at Lion's Den in Anchorage, AK. Said owner Dale Keefe, "I kept thinking about that news story when I was making sandwiches and I just kind of had an epiphany."

The $13 sandwich, which has been selling out at the restaurant, consists of pork tenderloin, caramelized apples, red onions, melted cheddar cheese, and crisp bacon. It comes with an unusual side of fries and lipstick.

McCain made the same "lipstick on a pig" comment himself about Hillary. So he already "lowered" himself, as you say. In any case, this post is 5 weeks old. There is a lot more outrage to be had in more recent posts.

WTFH?? What if McCain were to lower himself to make a comment such as this one about Biden? Can I made a sandwitch about his slur and not be seen as an @ssh*le, which I would be?? What if someone called Michelle a monkey in lipstick? Would THAT be okay???

The sandwich sounds quite yummy, and the kitschy-ness of the presentation appeals to me.:) The Lion's Den is just making some profits while they can. Why not?;)

You know that's a stick of wet'n'wild when at that price it should at least be revlon. All in all, it sounds delicious, however, I like my food without the added indigestion-inducing side of mudslinging...

That's hilarious! It is a bit pricey, but with a side of lipstick, they might have had to jack up their prices. I agree that lipstick candy would be an awesome addition. Honestly though, that sandwich sounds delicious. I would definitely be up for trying one. Knowing me I'd accidentally eat the pipe cleaner and googley eyes too. In re: to the political commentary about this, there are plenty of threads over on citizen sugar about this very topic. Can we please just stick to the food over here? :)

sigh. Obama wasn't referring to Palin with that comment, even McCain admitted it!! They were making a big stink out of nothing to distract us from the real issues. Obama was clearly referring to McCain's policies, not Palin, and it's not a sexist comment, it's a very common colloquialism. That being said, the sandwich itself sounds yummy, I just wish they weren't continuing to fan the flames of this ridiculous "issue."

The sandwich sounds yummy, but does it really need googly eyes? I agree, it is sort of beating a dead horse. We have bigger problems to worry about.

I don't think it was sexist at all. I think taking that comment as sexist erases some progress that women have made towards achieving equality. Its JUST a phrase. It's the same as saying "You can put a suit on a pig, but it's still a pig" except that the saying actually is "You can put lipstick on a pig..." Big deal! However, I must say, the sandwich sounds awesome, but I second that it should be lipstick candy and not lipstick! I wouldn't want to pay for a lipstick I'm not going to use!

I think that McDonald's has a possible suit to enforce a trademark infringement on the "Mc-" prefix though.

i get why they made this sandwich but i guess i just don't appreciate the humor behind it so i'm not diggin it. i wish that people would just be mature about this election - i feel like it's really straying from the whole issue thing and we're not necessarily seeing a candidate that can run the country but someone who's more about character

I'm slightly disturbed by it, but I agree, the combo of ingredients does sound yummy... although, the $13 price tag seems a little steep. It would have been even better if they gave our that lipstick candy (remember those) as a side dish!
