Paula Deen Candles: Love It or Hate It?

Linens 'n' Things is selling these Paula Deen candles ($19.99), which come in flavors like banana oatmeal chip cookie, coconut pound cake, and banana cream pie. Personally, I'm not sure I would buy them; I prefer candles in basic scents. Still, if they smell like Paula's home cooking, they might be worth checking out! What do you think of them?

i have bought candles that just burn down the middle and i got tired of wasting my money so i have made my own and started my own little home business and my candle wax are guaranteed to burn down the bottom of the jar i have no fancy packaging no professional labels i put my best in the product not the packing i think that is really what you pay for in the big name brand company's candles the look and with the recession and all you want a good candles for a reasonable price my candles are strong scented and run about 7.5 ounces for 6.85 tax included my email is laquintafranklin@att.net if your interested

I received one of the candles as a gift(bought at Cracker Barrel)..I cannot tell you how disappointed I was. This candle burned AWFUL, it has left black residue all over my entire house. The black residue has clung to the walls and ceiling as well as pictures and my son's plastic toys. It is impossible to clean and we are now forced to have to repaint . If I were Paula, I certainly wouldn't want this disaster attached to my name!

I tried one of these candles and they are crap...three wicks and they burn completely down the middle. Only took a couple of hours to burn down. Total waste of money. Have to say, though, it really smelled good.

To JohnEric704.Sorry my grammar and spelling didn't meet your standards, but that wasn't the reason I sent the post. I buy candles all the time and I didn't care for the candle,I don't care how much candle you get for $20! If it doesn't smell good or burn well It isn't worth it. The reason for the post was to let people know how the candles burn and smell thats all. So maybe you should buy a GOOD candle (like a yankee candle )to know a good one from a bad one.

Not a great speller or a grammar fan there are you Mississippi?... Where in the world do you all shop that you think $20 is expensive for a 38 ounce candle? This candle is in a huge (in the candle world) jar that can be used as a candy jar after the candle is gone, which will take a llllooong time. They smell great and come with a recipe for the "dessert" candle you choose. It's very common that $1 per ounce is a great deal for a candle, and based on that math- you guys are missing something here.

First off I am a big Paula Deen fan. People sometimes call me Paula, cause I love to cook and bake. I bought one of your candle one I'm a candle lover and it had your name on it. I was very disappointed with it not what I expected not a very strong scent at all. I thought for sure your candle could have been smelled threw the house or at least in the room it was lit in. But NO! can't smell it at all. Sorry I won't every buy them again. But I still love ya Paula

Ok y'all, seriously I am from Savannah and I am all for Paula but at this point its a bit ridiculous! She is totally overrated now! Totally!! :oy: no, I wouldn't buy these candles!

I'm sure they smell good, but that's a pretty steep price to pay just for a celebrity name on the tag. Where's the butter or lard flavor?

I have to be the different one here to say: I cant STAND Paula Deen. I think she's a nasty glutton who confuses taste with excess. I get the Southern trend of eating rich and not always so healthy, but I find her to be gross. It figures she'd have a candle this scent. LOL Whatever happened to "clean linen" smells? LOL

I bet these candles smell really good... That said, I have to admit I've lost some respect for Paula Deen seeing that she is now the spokesperson for Smithfield. They are a bad corporation that cares more about the bottom line than their employees. To add to the wound, they openly dump waste into open cesspools, polluting the entire county they are located in. I'm not normally so "activist" but this is very bothersome because it's happening about an hour from where I live... http://www.smithfieldjustice.com/ I know she's getting paid and all but how can you associate your name with something like that?

I love scented candles that smell like really yummy stuff like cookies and cakes...they make my house smell awesome! $20 is pretty steep, but like AmberHoney said, the cheap candles usually don't smell like much and I do like to splurge on GOOD candles. Do they make one that smells like butter? Can't have Paula Deen candles without butter :)

tlsgirl - it may seem expensive, but cheap candles don't give off much scent. I'm frugal and I've tried, not worth it, it just ends up being a candle.
