Pisco
A super potent brandy made from the distillation of Muscat grapes in Chile and Peru. Aged in special containers to prevent the liquor from absorbing either the color or flavor of the wood.

the "cholo pisco" is dissagre..
Never got around to sampling any pisco on my first trip to Chile but made a point of it this last time around. I definitely liked the pisco sour and had to make room for a couple bottles of Capel in my suitcase. I looked to see if I could find it here but it's about 7-8x more expensive here.
National Peruvian Pisco day is coming up in February and will be particularly important this year as the year ends with a zero. I celebrated early.
Peruvian Pisco is indeed sipped straight up! In Peru one can buy Pisco "snifters" which are slender glasses with a distinctive "hourglass" shape. In Peru, there are several types of Pisco, but all pisco is made under certain specifications. If you go to Lima and do not get a good Pisco sour, try it again somewhere else. Also, other popular drinks in Peru are the "Chilcana de Pisco" (pisco and sprite or sprite zero) and the desert drink, Algarrobina, which is an egg nog made with a Peruvian variety of carob syrup called Algarroba, egg yolk and ice in a blender!

You're not really supposed to drink Pisco straight up. We Chileans drink it with Coke, Piscola, which is one of the most popular drinks in the country. The other popular one is Pisco Sour, which is pisco with lemon juice and a bit of sugar. Piscola is more popular amongst men, while Pisco Sour is more of a lady drink. One brand of pisco makers has released new drinks: mango sour (pisco and mango) and berry sour (strawberry juice and pisco).

i went to chile last year and was introduced to a drink called Pisco Sour. It kindo of tasted like a margarita and it was the most potent drink i had ever had... i loved it, but definitely tread with caution...

I have two bottles of Pico at home....I really like it is pretty good with cranberry juice or coke as the Chileans drink it. I also use it as the white wine on sauces and it works almost the same although this one is stronger so you can't put the same qty.
