Pizza Hut has just introduced a Pizza Hut shortcut tool that sits right on your desktop and allows you to build customized orders. It's both Mac and PC friendly and makes online ordering a breeze.

To install, just click on the "Get it Now" button, then"Yes" for Adobe Air (it will skip this step if you already have), then click "Install," "Continue," then "Agree." And voila, you're all set to get started on your yummy pizza ordering frenzy!

OK, I'm assuming this is a Pizza Hut's way of playing a practical April Fool's joke on all of its customers, but you never can tell these days. It could just be and oddly-timed marketing scheme.

This morning, the Pizza Hut chain unveiled new signage declaring they're now serving pasta so good that they've decided to change their name. The dishes that inspired the name change are the Creamy Chicken Alfredo and Meaty Marinara. The 3-lb. servings — that are baked in a blend of sauce and cheese — will be available for $11.99. Scott Bergen, Pizza Hut's CEO, said:

For 50 years we've been all about pizza. As we've prepared for the launch of our new line of Tuscani Pastas our customers have consistently told us these pastas are so good we should change our name to Pasta Hut. Starting tomorrow, Pizza Hut is Pasta Hut.

I can't imagine they would actually change their name, although I could see them doing it for a short promotional period. Surely the name change must be an April Fool's joke? Either way I want to know, are you curious about their new baked pastas, and would you buy pasta from Pizza Hut?

I say that, but I bet I'd try this Japanese pizza with a mayonnaise and shrimp-filled crust. Then again, it's that time of the month.

After seeing the Double Roll Pizza from Pizza Hut, I have been dying to know how many calories and milligrams of sodium are in that thing.

This pizza is currently available at Pizza Huts all over Japan. I really hope this is not what other countries think American food is. Being that I don't read Japanese and also that I don't think Japan requires nutritional content to be posted, I decided to make an educated guess based on the image (with some translating help from user thisisalladream). Wow. Really that's all you need to say about Pizza Hut's "Double Roll" pizza - hot dog stuffed crust pizza with corn, mini- hamburger patties and a whole lot more. I really don't have much else to say except for that a medium costs ¥2500 ($20.50) and a large will set you back ¥3550 ($29). Oh and like most amazing things, it's only available in Japan. If anyone can translate the ad, please let us know what it says in the comments.

Update: The fine folks at Slice NY have pointed out that the ad has the date Sept 9, 2007 in it. Does this mean it's a limited edition pizza? Oh and what's stuffed into the right-hand side and why does it have a maple leaf instead of a tomato? Is it a sweet maple syrup sauce?!

If calling for a pizza has ever seemed like too much work, then I've got good news for you. Pizza Hut has just announced that it's offering online ordering at just about all of their US locations. They're even allowing you to create a "pizza playlist" for both delivery and carry-out options. So, you ask, what exactly is a pizza playlist? It's a customized list that contains favorite pizza orders, this way you can re-order with just one click. If you find this news a bit bizarre, I should mention that Pizza Hut actually started online ordering in 1994. Oh and the best part is that you can actually order up to seven days in advance.
