Bloody Mary: Love It or Hate It?

One of my favorite ways to spend a sunny Spring Sunday in San Francisco is sitting on a restaurant patio, enjoying brunch with friends, bloody Mary in hand. I love how the spice and zest of an excellent version is a full-on assault on the senses — although I can attest that at places where a bloody Mary is bad, it's really bad. How do you feel about them?

I just don't care for the tomato juice. I rather have the vodka alone.

Drinking tomato juice kind of sickens me. Heat it up, put it in a bowl, and give me a spoon.

I've only ever tried a sip of a friend's one time and didn't care for it — I prefer plain champagne or bellinis instead!

I'm not a huge fan of them, but if they are spicy and have a good dash of Worcestershire sauce in them, I'll drink them.

I love themmm. Not too spicy though. My nana used to drink them and I thought it was so weird, now I love them too!

It's been a while, but I second bluebell on the spice factor! If you ever find yourself in St. Cloud (Minnesota), D.B. Searles whips up a Mary that is legendary.

I made one at home once, it was nasty. I can't just go to a bar and get one, they use Worcestershire sauce and/or clam juice (I'm a vegetarian). To be fair, I don't care for tomato juice all that much.

Laaaaavve it! I used to go to brunch and get a schooner of Bloody Mary. By the time we got seated, I'd be too full to eat anything. Liquid diet!

I agree to the Caesar comments! In fact I found the best Bloody Mary Mix and they use Clamato in their recipe. Its called Irish Dog Bloody Mary Mix. www.drinkirishdog.com

Yes skigurl! Canada got it right with the Ceasar and I have switched to making my marys with Clamatto juice. Yummmm!

bloody mary, no - ceasar, YES! a bloody mary is missing that je ne sais quoi that a ceasar has (well it's not a je ne sais quoi, it's clam juice) and a ceasar is one of lifes most simple pleasures...my life would not be the same without it a bad one is pretty bad, but for me, the main way to f it up is making it too strong...anything else can usually be dealt with
