Festively Colored Food: Love It or Hate It?

The month of March brings St. Patrick's Day to the forefront, and that means lots of green coming your way soon, from Green River soda to brightly hued chocolate chip cookies to green beer. It's unlikely that these colors come from nature, yet they're so fun and festive, I don't mind getting a little green on my tongue. How do you feel about foods that have been colored?

i voted love because they are fun to make and look at, but i don't want to actually eat very much of it. still love it though.

Unless it only takes 1 drop of food coloring to achieve the desired color, hate it. Cookie dough isn't white, to do a whole batch, I'm sure it took a lot of green food coloring. This is why I'm anti-red velvet cake.

I think it's gross. Lots of bars around here do the green beer for St. Patty's Day and it's so disgusting looking. I'd rather just have a pint of Guinness instead of Miller Lite dyed green.

I don't really like dyed foods. I don't really like artificial foods. No margarine or lemon aide powders for me!

sure, i enjoy colored foods . . . but . . . I'm not a fan of Spongebob, but my fiance is, and he recently watched an ep where the annoying little sponge dyed his hamburgers and it became all the rage for the day and by the next day all the fish had changed color or turned plaid. i know that won't happen, but i don't like my teeth to be colored. :)

i love it for the holidays. i always make green cupcakes for st patty's! i never thought to make green choc chip cookies though- for some reason those look a bit scarier to me than that cupcakes do!

I'm with iz8per, any color not nature-made sort of creeps me out when I think of the chemicals used to make it.

I sort of have a love/hate, too. I'll have a few bites, but I don't want to be stuck with a green or blue tongue permanently.

my parents met at my mom's St Patricks Day party back in the day, and she had a green bagel on a string around her neck like a big pendant. he took a big bite out of it when they were introduced. as a family tradition of sorts, we've always had green bagels on St Pats and I love colored food :)

I would scarf those cookies down in a second! I'm not a big fan of green beer - I'd rather just have a guiness to celebrate.

Dyed food items are so unappealing to me. I think it might be because I got sick on green beer one St. Patty's day!

Love/hate it. I really love the festive/fun side of it, but I don't like the chemical aspect of it and the fact that dyes scare a lot of people (I would hate for people be afraid to eat the green cookies I lovingly made). I suppose I'm ok with a green cookie once a year

I generally can appreciate honoring the existing festivities, but at the same time have a hard time thinking about eating green food (except veggies or things that are naturally green of course). Other non-naturally colored food that makes me kind of shudder - blue, purple, and red.
