Pumpernickel
Similar to rye bread, pumpernickel is a type of bread that is dark in color with a slightly sour taste. It's usually made of rye flour with a small amount of wheat flour - molasses is sometimes added to add both flavor and color. Pumpernickel is a heavy sourdough bread with German origins and extreme density.
