The sixth season of Top Chef has come to a close. The final showdown that took place in Napa, CA, was between brothers Michael and Bryan Voltaggio and the gnome-like bearded Kevin. What did you think of the twist to the final challenge?
I was hoping for more exciting sous chefs. I knew Kevin was a goner when he selected two of the weakest cheftestants. How about you?

i was so glad it was the the voltaggio's standing together in the end. i liked both all season, but michael really stood out to me. ... that ending made me cry like a pansy.

all i can say is it's funny that so many people on this thread are excited that michael won. last week, it was all love for kevin. i too think that they should have brought some more judging in from the whole season to choose the winner and that the final challenge was confining. but what truly truly made me upset as a die hard top chef fan was there sous chefs. they have NEVER done something so unfair in the history of the show. team kevin 4eva.

1. It was ok 2. Yes for sure, it was kind of unfair the way they got to pick them 3. Yes!! I loved that they brought the moms! especially because of the brothers 4. Uhmm... I cant really pick one 5. Michaels, minus the over cooked cake 6. Of course! they are really salty, but tasty! 7. No... actually i've never tried it, but since im a vegetarian no! 8. no :( 9. No, he had the "worst" dishes today so its only normal that he left first. 10. Yes! and I wanted him to win so yey! He's the most creative, technical and professional chef of the three, although they are all great chefs, im glad Michael won!

Yes!!! I'm so buzzed that Micheal won . He is by far the most creative and they definatly takes more risk than other chefs . If top chef was abt "whos the nicest chef" well ... then he would have lost . But it isnt ! But i think it so unfair that the top chef winner is judged on his last challenge .... they should be judged for the entire season . Kevin would have won that way .

It seemed like the chefs didn't get as much of a chance to represent themselves like the previous chefs in finales. It was too confined. Totally unfair that Bryan got Jen, Michael got Eli and Kevin got Preeti. Really? They should have at least gotten to choose from the six most recent people kicked off. But then someone would have had Robyn! Ugh, Michael. Such a douche. A pompous, arrogant one at that. But I guess he was pompous and arrogant for a reason...

It seemed like the chefs didn't get as much of a chance to represent themselves like the previous chefs in finales. It was too confined. I thought it was so unfair the way they had to pick sous chefs. They make it so far, reach the finale, and it's the luck of the draw (or knife). Not ok. They should at least get to chose in order 1, 2, 3, 3, 1, 2. That's the only fair way, even if they included the whole "cast". Once Kevin got eliminated I was so hoping it would be Brain, boo.

I really liked Bryan and Michael the entire season and was happy that they were the last two standing. My favorite quote was definitely Michael's: "Because I don't want Bryan to be Top Chef."

We have to remember that judge's table is usually a really long process and I've read from other seasons that sometimes they can be up there for hours and we only see 10 minutes of it, if that. I agree that it did seem like they really liked Bryan's venison, but they could have talked about the squab a lot too and we just didn't see that. I also think they edit judge's table to make it seem like the judges are going to pick one person but then they end up picking another.

Reading Colicchio's blog, he said that they actually liked Michael's squab more than Bryan's venison, which I thought was surprising considering that it seemed like they all thought that the venison was the best 3rd course dish.

I don't know, I felt like Kevin really fell short in this episode. I don't think the bro v. bro thing was simply a stunt. I think they truly were the top two in that challenge. Although it did make for good tv. ;)

I was surprised that Micheal won, I thought Bryan had it. I wasn't surprised that Kevin was dismissed first -- the brother vs. brother was bravo's attempt to make a good tv moment.

I was surprised too that Michael won, just because the judges were raving about Bryan's third and fourth courses so much that I kind of thought he was a shoo in. I guess his first and second must have been that under-seasoned or that bad that he couldn't win it... Either way, it was a fun season to watch and it was neat to see the bros as the top two.

I knew Kevin was screwed when he drew Preeti and Ash. Although it does seem that Ash did a better job than Preeti, he still wasn't a strong competitor--he just followed what everyone one else did until he got kicked off. I agree with Katie that they shouldn't have brought everyone back. Especially the really weak competitors. If you're supposed to be cooking the best meal of your life during the finale then you should have access to the best help.I really didn't want Michael to win because I don't like his personality, but he is a good chef and as such he deserved to win.

I knew Kevin was screwed when he drew Preeti and Ash. Although it does seem that Ash did a better job than Preeti, he still wasn't a strong competitor--he just followed what everyone one else did until he got kicked off. 1. Eh, okay I guess, but there have been better final challenge twists. 2. Oh, I felt so bad for him. Preeti.....UGH. 3. That was sweet. 4. Don't remember any good one liners from last night, although I remember Kevin being funny when talking about his sous chefs. 5. Bryan's looked amazing. 6. Nope. 7. If they're done well, yep. 8. Nope. 9. No. He deserved to be there as much as the V brothers, but he had an off night. 10. NO. Bryan completely deserved to win. Michael burned cake. Even I can make that dessert without burning it. Their biggest problem with Bryan's dishes was that they needed more salt and pepper, and for that he lost? UGH.
