Top Chef Vegas: Episode 7

After a week off, Top Chef was back last night. However, I couldn't help but feel a little lost. I had forgotten what happened on the previous episode and sadly, realized how much I don't really care about this set of cheftestants. Are you just going through the motions too? What do you think is the most captivating part of Top Chef? For some reason, I am addicted to watching the beginning theme song!
How was Tyler Florence as the guest judge?
Jen went to work sick. She believes one should keep their mood and personal life out of work. How do you feel about this? Do you go to work sick?

Aww. How cute was it when older bro Bryan checked in with younger bro Mikey? It totally made me want to call my little sister.
Aren't the elimination challenge prizes a little unfair? Two weeks ago, Kevin won a Calphalon pot and this week Jen won a $10,000 shopping spree?!

1. The opener is pretty damn addictive, but I've always loved the quickfires. All time favourite is from a few seasons ago when Hung demolished a bunch of chickens. I watch just that challenge every few months. 2. Tolerable. 3. Don't care how she feels, but if it's contagious, very irresponsible. If I was a head chef, I'd much rather be one man down for one day, verses having half the kitchen down because of this do-gooder. If it's contagious, I won't go to work. 4. The money. No honor in staying in the competition based on a technicality. 5. Visually yes, but not much more than that. 6. Haha, yeah, but I'm used to it by now ("IT'S THE QUAKER'S OAT CHALLENGE!!!") 7. I was glad to see that. Actually made me call my sis who I haven't been in contact with for a while. 8. I'd like to see some consistency with them. The pot wouldn't piss me off too bad, but it would kill me a bit inside having to accept a cookbook as a prize (I've always viewed such prizes as glorified advertorials). 9. Kinda. While I always had her as one of the weaker chefs, the last few weeks, it seemed like she had really picked up her game. That said, the prawn was a massive screw-up, and not matter what she likes to think, I can guarantee that the gnocchi wasn't "perfect" when she sent it out for finishing. Still think Ash should have been thrown out ages ago, same with Robin. 10. The Volts, Kevin (I love him!), and Jen.

Man, I really liked Ashley. I had a strong suspicion she was done for though. Eli was more expendable than Ashley.

I'm just interested. I've always liked watching food shows and I always learn new things from them. 2. How was Tyler Florence as the guest judge? I liked him. 3. Jen went to work sick. I understand if it isn't contagious, but if it is then I don't want to get sick. 4. If you won the quickfire, would you choose immunity or $15,000? Um....I dunno. I guess it depends on how I'm feeling that day and if I had won money before. 5. Are you familiar with all the chefs on the Macy's culinary council? 1. I like the quickfire challenges ... but that might be because I have a short attention span, ah. 2. He was kind of lackluster. 3. While I wouldn't want someone sick working on my food in a restaurant, in this kind of contest situation, I think she did the right thing. 4. If I won the quickfire, I would take the immunity. If I was Kevin and won the quickfire, I would take the money. :) 5. I'm only familiar with Tyler Florence, but I liked that they told us who the others were. 6. Well, yeah ... because it kind of was. 7. Hmm, I missed this. 8. It's all about the product placement ... although if the next winner only gets a pot, it will be a little bunk that the $10,000 prize came before it. 9. I was definitely surprised. I really like Ashley, and, even though there were problems with her dish, I was surprised that they sent her home over Ash. I mean, at least Ashley TRIED. Ash skated on Michael's coattails and then threw himself under the bus. 10. The V Brothers, Jen, and Kevin. (And I kind of love Kevin.)

And sometimes there isn't any elimination prizes at all! I definitely would have taken the $15K over immunity! I am rooting for Kevin & the V brothers

1. OMG, me too because everyone seems so confident and excited! But I love the quikfires too, because they are based on skills that you should have as a chef on this level. 2. meh 3. I agree with keeping your personal life and mood separate. BUT she is a chef and I am sure she grossed out a few in her own home town that have eaten at her restaurant frequently. 4. The money for sure. Sadly Ashley said it best that they want to be judged on their food 5. No. 6. Doesn’t a lot of the corporate sponsorship on these shows seem like on air ads? In a way it reminds me of how television commercials were originally part of shows. 7. Very cute. I am surprised though that he has kids, he seems so young, maybe it’s all the backwards baseball caps. You think you guys were surprised imagine how Jen felt. I wondered why we saw her crushing hard and the nothing. 8. I hope Jen uses it to buy some conditioner her hair frighteningly dry. 9. No, I even fell asleep before the end and when I woke up I knew Ashley was gone. Too bad I thought she would be there longer because seriously Robin is the sucketh. Don’t get me wrong I think she seems like a nice lady and all but everything she makes sort makes me vomit a little in my mouth. 10. The Volt brothers, Kevin & Jen. But we have all known that since the second episode.

1. I like the quick fire challenges. It is amazing what they can whip up in that amount of time and produce. 2. He always seems a little full of himself as a judge. 3. I do work sick. As long as I can hold my head up and talk. Jen is very Professional and that is what is keeping her in the game. 4. I would have taken the immunity. These crazy challenge can mess up the best Chef. 5. I did not know Nancy or Tom. But I recognized everyone else. 6. A little. 7.It made me like Bryan more to see him look after his brother. 8. No, some prizes are geared toward the difficulty of the challenge. 9. yes, I was sure that it would have been Eli. After that speech he made , I was sure he was a goner.

1. The quick fire challenges and the contestant. I love the contestants this year, the are all super talented. 2. Love Ty Florence but he was eh as a judge. Maybe because he's a TV chef I couldn't take him seriously? 3. I hate going to work sick and I usually don't the first couple days I'm contagious after that I'll go to work. However if you work with food, STAY HOME. Why would you be so selfish as to get others sick? 4. Money, you can't take home immunity. 5. Nope none of them. 6.Yeah it did. It sounded like he was reading straight from a teleprompter. 7. Its was so cute. I love the V bros! I was a little bummed about the kids too sarah. Lol. its a little sad. But Mike V. is so hot and so talented. 8. Yeah. He should have won instead of Jen in my opinion. 9. Yes I was. She's been doing well lately and Eli was just floating in the middle. Eli should have been eliminated 10. V brothers, Kevin, Mike I

1. It's for sure the elimination challanges. 2. so-so 3. I found it gross that Jen still worked despite being sick. I think that she was somewhat better by the time they had to cook for the dinner party, but she should not have cooked for the elimination challenge. 4. The money for sure 5. I've heard of Nancy Silverton and Tyler Florence for sure, but I'm not fully sure if I know the others. 6. For sure. 7. That was very nice and I also liked how he defended him when others were questioning how his food was. But like sarahcateh, I do have a bit of a crush on Mike V. too. 8. Um yeah. 9. No, not really. Yes, I wish Eli or Ash (or Mike I. or Robin for that matter) would have been sent home, but I could tell they were leaning towards Ashley. 10. Volt brothers, Jen, and Kevin.

1. I love the quickfire challenges, the elimination challenges are often pretty boring but the quickfire challenges are usually really interesting (and it's amazing how quickly they get the dishes out). 2. meh 3. I normally think it's best for people to work through a sickness, however, I don't think it's a good idea for anyone who handles food to do this. That's often why people get food poisoning from restaurant food. 4. Definitely the money! 5. I had heard of Tyler and Tom but no one else. I think the Macy's culinary council sounds made up. 6. Yes, see above. 7. I have to admit I was a little bit sad to hear that Mike V. had kids, I've been harboring a bit of a crush for him. 8. Yeah, if I was Kevin I would be pissed (except he got 15000 this episode) 9. I really want Robin to go, but it's obvious Mike I. kept them afloat in this challenge. Ashely really wasn't in contention to win so I'm not too sad to see her go, but it also seemed like the super salty gnocchi was Eli's fault. 10. I don't see any top 4 other than the V. bros, Jen, Kevin
