Restless Chopsticks: Love It or Hate It?

Better Living Through Design recently posted about these Restless Chopsticks. They're uniquely shaped with a thinner tip that doesn't touch the table. Designed by Mikiya Kobayashi, they're really quite clever. This way, the part that goes in your mouth doesn't have to touch the table. I like them, but what about you? What do you think of these Restless Chopsticks? Available in mustard, red, black, or off-white for $12 each.

Sorry, I'm a traditionalist when it comes to things like this. Chopsticks should be treated like they have always been. If you're too lazy to place your chopsticks into a dish...well, we as Americans have become too lazy. Just grab a fork if you can't deal.

I think it's a great idea for those of us who aren't as adept at wielding chopsticks.. and thus set them on the corner of our plate only to knock them all over the place.

Oh, but I was also going to say that I know Chinese style you only use that end of the chopsticks. But, Japanese style, you flip your chopsticks and use the other end to dip into common dishes. So, you'd actually need chopsticks that do like a superman thing, and don't touch the table on either side. :rotfl:

Great idea, but a little expensive. I usually rest my chopsticks on the side of my plate as well, but I still like this idea.

they're not real chopsticks then. sorry, i'm chinese and i grew up with eating with chopsticks that touch the table ;P

I usually do rest my chopsticks on my plate, but this still looks like a cool idea.

These are cool looking, but I'm not sure why people aren't resting their chopsticks on their plates, chopstick holders or your folded wrapper for disposable chopsticks so the tips aren't touching the table. I eat with chopsticks a lot, even at home, as a long time ago I heard that you eat slower and take smaller bites with chopsticks and thus eat less. It has become a habit now.
