A Rustic Wedding on the Russian River
After helping my friend create 60 pom-poms, I was delighted to see the napkin rings make their debut on her big day. The unique wedding was held at Patianna Organic Vineyard with the highlight being a fabulous picnic reception down by the river. The groom's brother, chef Taylor Quimby, orchestrated the entire menu including a variety of appetizers, a family-style dinner, and an extensive dessert bar. Between my pictures and the photographer, Tom, we captured a spectacular and incredibly scrumptious meal! Check out all of my favorites.

My kind of wedding! Simple rustic and all about the food.
1What a lovely spread and location. Just lovely. The bride's mother is a little over the top with that many tiers if she hopes for that many grandbabies. That was a bit funny.
2kia, it is meant to have around 18 rings. The bride and groom are meant to put their fingers on the top ring, and pull off, and how many rings they pull off they will have. Usually the rings are fastened with less royal icing than that, so not to bring the entire cake along.
I brought with me a cake like that on the plane to France as a gift to my host family when I visited - and I had to send my host mother the recipe and the molds afterwards so she could duplicate it.
It tastes yummy.

5I cannot feign being fastidious here, because honestly, my favorite part of ANY wedding is the food! The Carmelized Onion Tarts and the Brandade Tart look absolutely heavenly. I'm going to also have to look for those golden beets at my local farmer's market--I have never even seen those before! Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures.

7Love to see the kransekake! And for anyone who's not likely to encounter it at a Norweigan wedding anytime soon, the batter is simple to make and bakes very well in sticks if you haven't got access to the ring molds to make the whole cake.
8They had two rings off the top of cake, so only the future will tell if the cake is correct!
