Both Ina Garten and Giada de Laurentiis premiered new Food Network series last Fall, so it's no surprise to learn that another of the network's biggest stars, Sandra Lee, is set to begin production of a new cooking program.
Sandra's Money Saving Meals will premiere on May 10 at 12 p.m. The show will focus on Lee's "triple A factor" of accessible, aspirational, and affordable food. She'll provide cost-saving tips for grocery shopping and feature innovative ways to use leftovers.
As more and more people look for inexpensive meal options, it's only natural for the Food Network to move toward a recession-friendly lineup. In a statement, Bob Tushman, the senior vice president of programing, said:
At this critical economic time, Sandra comes to the rescue by providing our viewers with creative ways to save money and time while cooking great meals at home. We appreciate the dedicated passion and in-depth knowledge Sandra brings to this topic, and we look forward to launching this new endeavor with her.
Although I've never really been a fan of Sandra's 70/30 semi-homemade philosophy, I'm curious to see her tips on affordable eating — after all, she was made from scratch! What do you think about the new series? Will you watch Sandra's Money Saving Meals?

i think that it's a good concept given how things are with the economy right now, i just haven't warmed up to her over the years. i've seen a lot of her shows, and i can see how she's relatable to middle america, it just doesn't work for me. i might giver her a chance though, since i really do need to start planning to be more economical if i want to start a family.
1Might check it out once just to see how it's different from Semi-Homemade, but seriously doubt I'd watch it on an ongoing basis. Although I'm very interested in saving money, I find her presentation style to be cloyingly saccharine.
2Good for her. I watch her every now and then, but the show seems fitting for the times.
3I love her 70/30 idea! It makes sense, and I have a busy life and two kids, sometimes there isn't time to make a 100% homemade meal! I'll definitely be catching her new show! She's an inspiration!
4I usually turn on Food Network in the morning on the weekends so I end up seeing her show. So far I haven't been impressed by any of her cooking...cocktails...or tablescapes.
5I've always wondered what kind of budget her show had. Her kitchen changes every time (all of the accessories and appliances are changed to complement the show's theme) and her tablescapes are often very elaborate and pricey. I wonder if her new show will cut back on that type of thing. I never could take her seriously because of most of that elaborate/unnecessary spending even if she was making "cheap" food. Plus I'm not a fan of processed foods so her semi-homemade stuff isn't for me usually.
6It would be a good idea - except her food is bad. I tried one or two of her recipes and they tend to be really sweet/sticky/cheesy/etc rather than tasty - and definitely not healthy.
If she's sticking to a budget now, does that mean her daily cocktail is out as well? I always find it strange how she manages to come up with a cocktail to go along with a children's birthday party.
7I'm not a big fan of Sandra Lee, but I might see what this has to offer.
8Gag. Never liked her show... mediocre cooking for the lazy.
9She kind of annoys me, but I like the concept of this show...I'll watch it and see how it is.
10I think her style is kind of nice for really busy people, but I find that I can make a lot of very cheap food from scratch without a whole lot of effort. I'd be interested in seeing some of the recipes that she has...I want to see what sorts of premade things she uses. I've honestly never made any of her recipes myself, but from watching her show, a lot of them seem a tad on the rich side. And most of her cocktails seem like they're REALLY high in sugar.
11No thanks, had enough of her cocktails and bad food. I wonder if she "tests" the cocktails before she starts cooking cause only a drunk person would make half the crap she puts together
12Awesome!!
13I absolutely love her so I am definitely looking forward to the new show...
14YAY ! I loveee sandra
15I liked her show watch it every day. I think she a beautiful lady and liked her style.
16I absolutely love Sandra Lee. What a talented, cheerful
17person! She puts alot in to her shows. Besides the
recipes- I enjoy her artistic talent with the table scapes,
most of her table scapes are so beautiful!!! Just like her!!!
Are they f'ing serious at TVFN? Unless they add laugh track to the abortion that is Semi-Homemade, TVFN is stubbornly entrenched in their credibility purge. It's bad enough Lee tries to woo to the dark side those who CAN afford good food. NOW she's trying to tempt the financially struggling viewership into the Cool Whip and taco seasoning packet aisles. Oh well, I guess doctors have to procure chronically ill people SOMEHOW.
Can someone let me know when TVFN wakes up? Much obliged.

18I did enjoy her new show much more than the original. It is quite interesting and I really will try her syrup with banana's. What a great idea!!!
19I think Sandra Lee's idea of 70/30 and Money Savings are GREAT! Sometimes I alter her recipe to fit my Weight Watcher's and diabetic diets, but that is usually not needed. I have learned a lot from her ideas and it has been a refresher course as well. Keep up the good work!
20Sandra i love your easy and semi recipes they are great. I don,t drink but i love to see you make your drinks. very nice. but most of all your table scapes are very nice, i've had people tell me how much they like my tables. i tell them i owe it all to sandra lee. Thank You Very Much.
21Okay, okay; so all of her recipes are not so great. Are YOURS? For people who work and have to make a meal every night, I wouldn't throw stones at her if I were you. Many, many of her meals ARE good.
22And, one trivial comment: At least she enunciates and I can understand every word she says.
Love you, Sandra. Keep us the good work.
OOOh, for shame. I spelled "up" wrong (wrote "us" instead.) Do I get demerits for that?
23I like your cooking
