Here's the deal with simple syrup: it's used to sweeten everything from drinks to desserts, and is extremely simple to prepare (as its name implies). A classic variation consists of equal parts sugar and water, while a rich simple syrup is two parts sugar to one part water. 1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
- Bring the sugar and water a boil in a small saucepan set over high heat.
- Remove from heat and let cool. Pour into a jar or bottle and store in the fridge for up to a month.
Makes about 1-1/2 cups.
