I always make mushroom cream soup. It's very good to feed the guests quickly, while the rest of the food finishes, because I never get it all done on time
No, we never have soup. I think if we ever did have it, people would think it was a weird thing to eat at Thanksgiving. I think a pumpkin soup would be really good, though.
My mother-in-law makes the best split pea soup which she serves before Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. I thought it was really weird (we never had soup with a fancy meal when I was growing
up)but after tasting it I am already looking forward to it this year! The only bummer is that it is so good you want to eat more but there is a huge feast that also needs to be eaten!
I 've been holding the "Orphan Thanksgiving" for my grad student colleagues who don't/can't travel to family, so they involve lots of people juggling lots of food. While soup would be lovely,
it would just be asking for a big stain on the carpet at this point. Balancing wine is pushing it by the end of the evening!

I come from an italian family and every year for every holiday meal, we always have homemade wedding soup, painstakingly made by my grandmother. Everything's fresh, perfect and delicious. I
don't care if I eat anything else - this is the best part of the meal.

1My dad sometimes makes pumpkin soup as an appetizer.
