Yesterday, this cake was delivered for Suri Cruise's 2nd birthday. The perfectly springtime cake was created by a local specialty shop and is reported — but not confirmed — to have cost $5,000. So tell me, what do you think of this birthday creation?

Hi All I can say is that they have been ripped off. The tiers are crooked and not level. One of our Cygnets in the British Sugarcraft Guild could have made it. Come on Tom get British next time and get some professional in. Just because you can afford it it doesn't mean to say you should be ripped off. If I was you for her 3rd Birthday get a reasonable quote and if you like the finished product then show your appreciation. I do hope you see these comments.

Under no circumstances should that cake have cost $5000! I had an AMAZING 3 tiered wedding cake that was fondant and actually designed to match my wedding dress by a woman (New England Couture Cakes, mines in her portfolio, white with a teal blue train down the front and brown rope around the tiers) and it cost under $1000. If they paid $5 grand for that cake, then they got ripped off and were probably charged that because of their names.

I have gone all out for each one of my three children and their friends have had such a great time, they've talked about it for weeks. Most I've spent on a cake and we've had pigs, dogs, fairy castles and forts (castles and forts by me) also had space ships and number shaped cakes(some by me), has been no more than $40, if I didn't make it myself. One time I made special cup cakes for the school and they asked me to make more to freeze for another party, total cost for both parties - less than $50 for about 100 children. We've had riding parties and discos, etc. $5000 would leave me in profit after arranging the whole shindig. However, I would be doing it for the child not the cameras.

Cute cake but it looks fake. Fondant for a kiddie party? Can we say "ewww!"? I could have made a much more suitable cake for a 2-yr.-old's party for much less. It probably would have tasted better, too. Cupcakes are an option, too, like Sprinkles or Magnolia or several other cupcake boutiques. But then again, it's their money.LOL

Wow! I bake and decorate cakes and would have done that for half the price! I don't care for the green ribbon. For $5,000, they should have at least made a beautiful fondant ribbon with little gumpaste bows going around..more little girl-like. I would have had a great time making this cake! :)

5,000$ for a cake a 2 year old who doesn't even know or care about the price and size and who sh*ts it out the next day... when my daughter turned 13 we threw her an enormous party but the cake was no where near that price at all... and I thought that 400 $ was an expensive cake price for a kid that's nearly EIGHT times her age.... way ridiculous, this Hollywood world.

it is a very cute cake, but I think I would have liked to see something a little more kid friendly, the fondant is really not a big hit with the under 20 crowd. :)

I love this cake design. I love to see unique birthday cakes for little girls parties that don't involve the color pink. And I love the sunny yellow color used on this cake. I also tend to wonder about the price quoted as being a little too high for what it is. I am sure if a normal everyday person order this cake it would have cost them wayyy below the 5000.00 price.

It's very cute, but I'm also surprised it cost 5K. Prices must be so much higher on the West Coast! I would expect that cake to be about $1000 here in the midwest. I mean, it's tilted, for one, for two, the green fondant strips are uneven! The peeps over at Charm City Cakes could have done a much better and more whimsical job! ;)

Wow what a waste! I wouldnt have spent $5k on that cake, even if I had it to spend. That cake probably cost the baker about 30 bucks to make. Water, flour, sugar, eggs... Where's spongebob or dora the explorer? :?

Oh, I just read at People that the cake was made by Sweet Lady Jane, which is a dessert shop on Melrose. I love it there. The Olsen Twins invested millions in it a couple of years ago.

I LOVE IT! However, I don't think $5,000 is the right quote. Even Syvia Weinstock cakes don't cost that much for that size. Cute cake, nonetheless!
