Thanksgiving: Love It or Hate It?

I'm an avid and advanced home cook. I'm passionate about food. I entertain at least twice a month. I even find the act of chopping wildly relaxing. Now that you know these things about me, you won't be surprised to learn that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! I love everything about Thanksgiving from the planning to the turkey to the tablescape. While I'd like to think my enthusiasm for the third Thursday in November is contagious, there are some people who simply don't enjoy Thanksgiving. How do you feel about it?

I don't like Thanksgiving that much. I'm not into the heavy food anymore. Last year, I didn't even eat half my plate and I felt nauseous.

Um, best holiday OF THE YEAR!!!! I am so excited - but then again SAD because I know the day will be over before I know it! :( *Oh well, right now I am totally looking forward to it! I haven't had turkey since last year! ah ha ha!

I love Thanksgiving! It's my favorite holiday, followed closely by Christmas. I get so excited for the macy's parade, the awesome food, the time with my family. It's fabulous.

I love it, and I love that my vegetarian step sister hates it. I eat double the meat just to peeve her off.

As a vegetarian, I have run into problems in the past with not having a whole lot of food options at family/friend gatherings. This year I will be bringing the veggies and maybe a tofurkey? Otherwise, I think it is an excellent time to spend with loved ones and reminisce on all the blessings in life.

I love every holiday where there is green bean casserole. I also love getting to see my family and getting to cook with my mom.

Love it! I love all the cooking, fun with family, food, and taking a day to reflect on all that you are thankful for. I always think it's much more fun than Christmas. All the fun of cooking and eating and enjoying family, without the stress of gift-giving.

"I'm not big on celebrating a culture of intolerance and hypocrisy" *rolls eyes* How about just being thankful for what you do have? You know, like the original tradition? I always thought the blood-thirsty glorifying in the destruction of the native peoples aspect was strictly optional. Love Thanksgiving. Crazily enough, a bunch of pop stars got together in Beijing last year to celebrate Thanksgiving through volunteer work. Though of course it's a little bizarre to translate such a North American holiday to the Chinese context, the idea of setting aside a day to say thanks is appealing even in China.

how do you hate thanksgiving!? unless your relatives are really horrid,and you know you'll have to spend the whole day with them...or longer if they are staying at your house for awhile to visit *shudder* Ok, I guess I can see how in that situation you might come to dislike it....

Thanksgiving is one of my all-time favorite holidays and it always has been...I love cooking for my family and spending the day with them. And in our family, we always spend the day after Thanksgiving getting out the Christmas decorations and getting ready for the holidays. It's always a fun and special time. This year, it will DEFINITELY be my favorite holiday because my husband's coming home from his 5 week long business trip the day before Thanksgiving...it's definitely something I'M thankful for!
