My dad used to cook brussels sprouts just so that he could watch me make horrible faces when he forced me to eat them. After years of avoiding them because of that childhood trauma, I recently tried them again- and still hated them. Green beans, however, are great any way you prepare them. And I am a sucker for green bean casserole.
I love whole green beans with a little olive oil, sea salt, and garlic. I like to mix in some mushrooms usually. For Thanksgiving I like to make them with cranberries instead. I really hate the green bean casserole, though. Probably because I used to stuff myself with it on holidays when I was younger. It makes me queasy to even think about now.
i'm always a big fan of green beans - so that's definitely going to be my side of choice out of those 2 options. i have to admit that i've never had Brussell sprouts so i don't even know if i would ever go that route.
It's weird that so many seem to be anti-green bean casserole. I love that stuff! I guess because I only have it at Thanksgiving - but I can eat a whole casserole by myself!!
