Tomatoes: Love Them or Leave Them?

The other day when I offered Danny a cherry tomato, I was shocked to hear him say no. Apparently he doesn't like tomatoes! Even more surprising, another Sugar staffer chimed in: "I don't like tomatoes either." To me, tomatoes are one of the most delicious fruits on the earth, especially during Summer when they are in season. I love tomatoes so much that sometimes I'll eat a plate of them with a little salt and olive oil as dinner. How do you feel about them?

I don't like raw tomatoes. I like marinara, tomatoes soup, V8, ketchup and sun dried tomatoes, but I do not want sliced or diced tomatoes on anything. They gross me out. Sad because my dad grows tons of tomatoes.

LOVE - have 8 plants in my garden right now, cherry tom overload, made marinated toms, curried catsup and always good for snacking with all the good salts available today. :drool:

I'm not crazy about them on their own, but I love them on sandwiches and in dishes and sauces.

I didn't like them as a kid — but now they are one of my favorite things to eat.

LOVE them. it's great - my mom has a vegetable garden at home and it's one of the best things ever to get fresh tomatoes from the vine during the summer.

I like Tomatoes i would not say i love them though. I eat them raw or cooked with other stuff, but i couldn't eat them by themselves.

Love tomatoes! We have 24 different tomato plants in my garden right now, and I too can eat just tomatoes for dinner or a tomato sandwich, very yummy! The ones in the grocery store though have lost their taste because they have been refrigerated. They are much better fresh off the vine. :)

I only like them when they are raw and really good, heirloom tomatoes usually. I don't like cooked tomatoes much at all! gross.

I just bought some at the green market this morning - a little basket of heirloom grape tomatoes, and they are wonderful! Each variety has subtle differences in flavor - they were perfect with a simple salad of romaine lettuce and balsamic vinaigrette. I'm looking forward to having them tomorrow on fresh bread with some goat cheese.

I pretty much LIVE for garden-fresh ripe tomatoes. When they're in season, I eat 3 or 4 tomatoes a day, lol. They are YUMMY!

I'm not a fan. I'll occasionally eat one on a burger if it's fresh off the vine, but that's the only way. My children eat grape tomatoes like candy though, which is good for them!

Cooked, I would find it very difficult to do without them; I make tons of meals using crushed tomatoes as a base - soups, stews, casseroles, curries, vegetarian chilli. I probably use cooked tomatoes at least five times a week. Raw, I'm fairly ambivalent toward them, although a couple of slices are nice on a veggie burger. :)

yum :] i prefer farmer's market tomatoes since the normal ones at a typical grocery store [especially out of season!] are just not as wonderful as the uber fresh ones. there really isnt anything better than a salad with fresh tomato and many other veggies!

Love them to no end. But the store bought ones, even during the season, often taste like cardboard. When someone says that they don't like tomatoes, I will believe them only when they taste one fresh off the vine, or one that has been picked that very morning and has been sold at a farmer's market.

i used to never like tomatoes until i tasted ones straight from the vine. my family in Hungary have a huge garden with plenty of tomatoes and i just couldn't get enough. I started a garden in my parents backyard with 4 tomatoe plants and I have 2 here at my apartment. Sooo yummy when its fresh.
